Great week in Cape Charles

We had a wonderful time staying in this charming old house in Cape Charles. The location was perfect to put everything within a five or so minutes walk, and the house was very pet friendly for our pups. We absolutely loved the quiet and peaceful days and nights, and took every chance to relax on the large and comfortable front porch. Everything from booking through checkout was easy, with very good communication from the property manager via the VRBO app.

The house was huge with plenty of space. Easy parking and a short walk to town and the beach. Highly recommended.

Clean and Convenient

This property was very clean and well cared for. The location is great; conveniently close to the beach and park, which is great for families with children. The property manager was great to deal with and responsive to questions. The dryer did go out prior to our stay and was replaced while we were there. The issue was communicated to us before we checked in and the unit replaced while we were out, so we were not inconvenienced at all duringnour stay. Will definitely be back!

Although the location is excellent, this property is in very poor condition. The over grown yard and peeling paint were just a foreshadow of what the interior was like. The house is cooled by inexpensive and noisy window air conditioners. Upon arrival we discovered the living room ac to be inoperable. We called the property manager Jen with Peninsula Properties and she asked if I could flip the breaker down in the basement. I was shocked to see what appeared to be an original to the house fuse box with the old style round fuses. Scary!Footnote-Jen represents the owner’s of the house and she was very responsive when I called with my concerns. The 1960s era kitchen hasn’t seen any updates and several of the appliances didn’t work or they leaked. The only full bathroom is upstairs and is very small. Oddly the toilet is mounted in the middle of the floor away from the wall. We had to turn sideways and shimmy around it to get to the tiny vanity. Fortunately we had other family members staying in houses nearby so we didn’t need to cook or spend much time in this place. We rent frequently through VRBO and this is the first negative review I have had to post. I hope this review helps others to avoid the frustrations that we experienced with this property.

Nice Stay

Excellent location, just a block from the beach and 2 blocks from the Mason Street shops. The house was clean and ready when we arrived. Jen was was an excellent communicator and very accommodating. High marks there. The house is in the historic Cape Charles area. This home doesn’t appear to have had the renovations of some of the other homes we’ve stayed in Cape Charles. It could stand some updating - in particular the interior doors and lighting. It is a duplex with someone also living on the floor above. They could be heard, but they never kept us up at night and it really wasn’t an issue - however we did know they were there. We had a great time in Cape Charles, as always.
