The hostel is located in a dimly lit area with nothing around. You have to walk half a mile to the nearest gas station and that's all you have at night. The taxi's available near the port charge double the fair to go downtown. If you're not a nightlife person the beach location is just for you! Otherwise, I suggest you stay at the downtown location. The hotel staff were nice but would always forget to charge me for the tours I booked so they would hound me down after I got back from the tours. The bathrooms aren't cleaned unless everyone in the hostel is checked out, even if you don't know the people in your room. If a customers leaves they only redo that customers bed and that's it. All you have at night for cover is a very thin flat sheet. And when you're in a room with strangers who like it cold, you're definitely out of luck.
