This is a fascinating historic property set in attractive gardens that lead down to the river. Our room was small (and advertised as such), but it was pleasant and comfortable, with a nice garden view. We had an excellent dinner in their garden restaurant, and a good breakfast.

Charming historic hotel which has very recently been refurbished to a very high standard. The team at the hotel are very friendly and professional and the food is excellent. There are lots of walks around the hotel in the grounds and the lovely town of Callander on the doorstep. Is dog friendly too and highly recommend / also has a link to the Beatles and has a Beatles inspired bistro which is lovely.

Quaint and in a charming location with established gardens, some updating and attention to small details, such as keeping up with replacing essential light bulbs, would improve the experience at Thackray House. The bar and lounges are comfortable and welcoming.

This is a traditional and recently refurbished characteristic hotel with beautiful grounds and it's clear that the staff working their enjoy it. The room was a superior deluxe room that was well maintained and comfortable, nice selection of bathroom amenities and fluffy towels. The only downside was the shower is over the bath and the side of the bath is quite high so anyone with limited mobility may struggle to get in. The bar had a decent selection of drinks however they don't make cocktails, there was a bit of a wait to be served on the first night as the barman also served in Strawberry Fields Bistro which is located a minutes walk from the actual hotel, the second night the service was better. We ate in the Bistro on both nights, the food was good but it is a limited menu so quite restricted. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend staying their.

Cracking Anniversary treat

As always a delightful stay. So welcoming and friendly - and the braw lounges and lovely gardens - mean the buildings and surrounds are as good as the staff. Only issue was the plug hole in our bath wasn't very secure and the bath water disappeared - just when I wanted a jacuzzi in the bath!!!
