(The motorway link is excellent). The historic walled town of Obidos and the spa town of Caldas da Rainha are 15 minutes drive from the villa. Foz do Arelho (20 mins drive) is located on a beautiful sea water lagoon with excellent beaches and amenities. The famous horseshoe cove beach of Sao Martinho do Porto is just 25 minutes drive. There were minor caveats, such as the problems with the boiler and the Sky receiver for the TV, but those were easily overcome with the remote assistance of Dave and Karen who were always available to reply our emails. One major issue which is not their fault but results from the surroundings (from what we were told, it's the combination of large fruit fields and livestock) are the flies. I have never seen so many flies on my life! So, one advice is to take a couple of citronella candles, especially if you plan on doing some barbecues. The pool is great and the sun cover keeps the water warm and clean. All summed up, a great choice for a quiet vacation on the Portuguese countryside. ##### João L. Very comfortable with everything you need, supermarkets 15mins driving. Proximity to explore many different places which we loved. A car is essential for the villa, the area was peaceful and very relaxing. David and Karen were excellent hosts and helped us organise things we needed for our 2 week stay.
