They will ask you for more money

Posted 06-Jan-2016
Cons: Transparency
They gave me a crib for my six years old daughter. I objected, so they send a foldable bed and stated they will charge extra. I said no and they agreed. however, after leaving the hotel, my wife forgot a cheap necklace with sentimental value. I called to check, they said they found it. however, they will not relieve it unless I pay approx 11,477EGP with us equivalent to $1800 for an upgrade That I don't know anything about or signed for. Also, the AC was freezing cold and never got fixed although I repeatedly complained about it. Their solution was simply to turn it off!

Hotel stuff is always looks suspicious

Posted 30-Nov-2015
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Hotel staff speciousness and stop following guest everywhere. Teach some manners at the reception
Location: The location is terrible as well, there are soldiers next to the building, they are always after you do not allow you to stand in the public area
I have been stayed many 5 star Hotels but Kempinski is the only early check-in charges which is surprised me. Most of the hotel stuff well dressed, i felt for a moment Staff is more than number of guest, always looks suspicious and following after guest, in every moment from the room door to restaurant and everywhere. Just feel like life is hell following someone after you. In case some guest visiting to you at the hotel, you will be end-up providing all kind of IDs and giving big explanation to their lectures. I would strongly dont recommend to stay this hotel my personal expereince ended-up with stayed friend's house 2 nights and paid full hotel rent.

5 star? Debatable.

Posted 23-Nov-2015
Stayed here for five nights just recently. Have visited Cairo many times over the past twenty five years and have stayed in several of the city's 5 star hotels. Whilst this hotel is in a great central location overlooking the Nile, it's service standards somehow let it down at times. Arrived in the early hours of the morning and was immediately disappointed to find I'd been allocated a small Nile view room with a window as opposed to the larger deluxe Nile view room with a balcony that Id paid extra for. The hotel appeared minimally occupied but I was told there were no suitable rooms available until the next day after 12noon. I was therefore unable to unpack or settle in properly until then. Not a good start to my stay! The following day I made sure i was moved into the type of room I'd paid extra for. This was more spacious with a balcony overlooking the Nile. Bed, pillows linen and air conditioning were very good, as was the soundproofing of the glazing. All ensured a good nights rest was had throughout my stay. The breakfast was particularly good with a great mix of usual hot buffet fare, a lovely selection of Egyptian/Arabic food (the belila, fuul and fattir were to die for) and a chef available to make fresh omelettes, waffles etc. Service however was slow and patchy. This was the case elsewhere too. Biggest bugbear? Room wasn't hoovered during my stay. Crumbs on floor for five days. Coffee, creamer etc was rarely replenished. Service let the hotel down.

Good hotel at a great location. Perhaps not quite on the level of some other Kempinski's but quite nice, and feels safe next to the UK embassy.

Nice hotel overall, but rooms need upgrades

Posted 07-Oct-2015 on Hotels
I had a decent experience at the Kempinski. The staff (with one Concierge exception, but other members of Concierge were great) was very professional and helpful. Great location, felt safe as a female in Cairo. It was a nice touch to have free water and soft drinks from the mini bar. The only major drawback that would prevent me from giving 5 stars is the hotel room itself. While large, it was old. The carpet was stained and even the hotel paraphernalia in the room was old and falling apart. I was in a deluxe king room.
