"This is a beautiful property with lots of history and character but not at expense of a comfy bed and decent bathroom etc. Has a lift and a self check in which was helpful. We are in the restaurant for brekky and dinner and it was great and they did fabulous cocktails in the Tickets Bar. Good location close to station obviously and was quiet and comfy whilst also being a big fancy. Would stay again."

"The staff was amazing at Citysteps. They were helpful, polite, and welcoming at all hours. They kept the place clean and organized. I really appreciated the market for late night snacks. The only hard part was the bed. It could have been more confortable."

"Very old hotel and a little shabby in parts but still clean. Breakfast was good, hot and well cooked. Room was good size, we had family room with 2 doubles and it was clean, bathroom was big but why only 1 hook so nowhere to hang clothes etc What makes this hotel is the staff, friendly, helpful and professional. A little pricey for what we had but apparently Durham is expensive and the location is excellent. We would return"

"Stayed for the GNR two years on the trot now. The buffet was chaos and although it’s generous and great to lay out drinks, snacks etc for the marathon there was a lack of bananas for that or anyway"
