The plan was for the Carillon Tree of Light to be turned on nightly through New Year’s Day and be accompanied by the bells playing a medley of holiday classics on the hour. I went on Sunday night and stood in wonderment of the melodic bells and the strands of light enhancing the already majestic silhouette of the carillon. Overnight, wind gusts in excess of 40 or even 50 miles per hour damaged many of the strands of light. By morning, the damage was such that the display was beyond repair and will now be taken down for the year. The decor is bizarre and you'll probably spot something new and entertaining every time you're there, no matter how many times that's been! There's a small second story area which affords a great view of the stage (pictured), where they've got live music several days a week. There's also an outdoor deck which is open in the summer and plastic-wrapped in winter so the smokers can still use it.
