Tired, needs updates in room, unwelcoming lobby.
Now 25 yrs old, the lobby has been updated but not for the better. In 1993/93/94 my firm held press conferences here & the atmosphere was light, airy, welcoming & classy. Now, black wooden paneled lobby, unclear as to which desk is check-in or consierge, and trendy Asian feel that will be out-dated in 5 yrs (so they can re-do the lobby). Spent 3 nites here & Maintenance had to come twice: My deluxe room had a rusty sink faucet blasted out water, & flashing fluorescent light bulb needed changing. Got my name wrong on the welcome note & broken glass near our door wasn't cleaned until our 3rd day. Breakfast at Bistro way way over-priced for what it is. Taking a clean dish for the buffet, it was stuck to the next dish by a half open sugar packet. Yuck. Go across street to Gerbeaud (better food & classic atmosphere than this poorly organized breakfast bisztro). No coffe maker or music system in room. Staff was very good- helpful, cheerful, welcoming. We had a couples massage in their spa- ok. Nothing different / special than what I have at my gym. Small pool (not really enough to do laps). I'm in this city 4/5 times a year & typically stay at one of their competitors but was curious about it with the 25 yr celebration.
