This was such a great stay for my family. The hotel staff was amazing. They were helpful, kind, and efficient. The breakfast was incredible! Room was plenty large enough for my family of 4. It was very clean too. There was so much to do on the property. Our first night we sat out front in the biergarten and enjoyed burgers and beers. Sitting out on our balcony enjoying my morning coffee watching a train roll across the huge bridge behind the property was an amazing way to start my day. My kids loved hiking to the waterfall on the trail just behind the hotel. There are several trails to hike there. There are two really cool shops on the property and some other neat things that you’ll just have to discover for yourself. There are also two great towns about 30-45 minutes drive from Hofgut Sternen, Freiburg and Triberg. I’m almost sad that our trip to Germany started with this hotel as I’m afraid that the others we have booked might not live up to the experience we had here. Thank you Hofgut Sternen for getting our Germany vacation off to an amazing start.

Great location to explore the Black Forest
Staying in a historic building with lots of photo opportunities around. Great starting point for excursions/drives into the Black Forest region.

Great hotel, but right next to noisy road.
Very nice hotel. Everything was great for the exception of the road right next to the hotel. Very heavy traffic even at night. Very annoying if you want to keep windows open at night to get some fresh air.

Hotel Sternen
Lovely hotel and anex's. Great breakfast, and stunning if steep multi waterfall walk behind the hotel. We paid to see the highest waterfall in Triberg, this is better. Only negative we couldn't eat in the evening as both night the restaurant was fully booked.

Efficiently run and extremely friendly hotel at a reasonable price. Good food in the restaurant and excellent breakfast selection. Very family friendly and some thoughtful touches (we were able to borrow an umbrella and walking sticks free of charge for example). Convenient location for exploring the area and transport is free with the hochshwarzwald card issued at the hotel, which also allows free or discounted access to a number of local attractions. Be aware that hotel is part of a small complex which includes shops selling high end souvenirs and local crafts. It is also located just off a main road, however we did not find it noisy and slept very well. We would certainly stay again.

Very old structure in need of refurbishment. Booked a suite and got a double bedroom. They refused to room service me and had to get food myself. Some of the staff are rude. Overall accommodation is comfortable due to location.

Did not like the lack of air conditioning- very hot days and hard to sleep. Room was very small and not as pictured on Expedia and had no refrigerator, had a glass door to the bathroom ensuring no privacy. Amenities and housekeeping were the bare minimum - not what I expect from a 4 star hotel. Did like the beautiful grounds and adjacent walking trails and the good breakfast.

Great Start to Our Honeymoon!
My wife and I stayed here for the first 2 nights of our honeymoon and absolutely loved it! The location is perfect, it was situated right in the mountains and a short drive to Freiburg and our hiking trails. The hotel grounds were lively with multiple restaurants, museums and historic sites. The staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. We highly recommend for any tourists looking for an authentic Black Forest experience. This is not anything like your typical Best Western. My wife loves that it was a historic hotel and that we were able to walk the grounds and tour the history.

The staff were fantastic. We stayed there on my 60th birthday and we were treated really well. Champagne, chocolates and a decorated table - and that was for Breakfast !!!! The evening meal was lovely and Pedro was really good fun. Overall we can't recommend this hotel and it's staff highly enough. 12 out of 10.

I booked and prepaid this hotel room well in advance. They charged a second time for the entire room rate for the stay. I showed the woman at reception my receipt and she implied I was lying/deceiving the company. Incredibly rude and ridiculous. We got our money back (for the double charge), but only after arguing with the front desk and showing our receipt and bringing up our bank statement. The stay otherwise was very nice. Just make sure you have receipts and bank statements with you to prove you have paid if you choose to go here.

The location of the hotel was excellent with many walks immediately around the hotel and close to areas of interest. Some real personal touches, with tables for breakfast and dinner reserved in the name of the family. A special mention for Pedro, one of the serving staff - as he seemed to take immense pleasure in providing a very cheery service. The rooms were of a high standard and an excellent breakfast was included. Only slight issue, is that there were roadworks taking place on the main road around the hotel, that started very early on the one morning.

Beautiful hotel with great service & friendly staff. The hotel is located on property with trails and access to some historical buildings, great for an early morning or evening walk. To our surprise, our stay came with a Black Forest card that allowed free entrance or discounts to many attractions and activities in the region. Great value!

Cute resort with all that you need!
We arrived here by almost an accident as we wanted to be closer to freiburg. We discovered the sweetest place with fabulous breakfast and very welcoming staff who went out of their way to make our stay great. Rooms were spotless, outdoors amazing and the glassblower simply beautiful. No more words necessary.

In the heart of Black Forest
Our stay at this hotel was very enjoyable. It is situated in an excellent location, among gorgeous nature. The room was spacious, modern, and impeccably clean. The following morning we enjoyed one of the best buffet breakfasts. Would definitely stay here again, and would recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

The hotel is spread over 3 building. Some rooms have Internet (our room had week internet only if you were sitting next to the door), Some rooms has AC (our did not) When we got the room it was very clean however during our stay they did not clear as expected) PRO: Location, very nice staff CON: No AC, VO internet, Not clean

Dear guest, thank you for your feedback. Two of our 68 rooms - our 2 Junior Suites - have air condition, all others do not. This is the reason why we do not promote our hotel to be equipped with air condition. We are very sorry for the weak internet connection, our IT already knows about that and is working on a solution. Lovely Gem in the BlackForest Area
A very good and convenient location to stay while exploring the Black Forest area. A number of good hikes and cycling trails either commence or pass through this property. A few stores within the property also ensure a good feel of the local shopping/ buying options. The only drawback, it may seem a bit touristy to when the tour buses come in the morning, but we were out through the day so pretty effective for us as a family. Thank you to the staff for making our stay wonderful.

Beautiful hotel nestled in the mountains
I can honestly say this hotel exceeded my expectations. It was in a beautiful location nestled in the mountains, perfect for a hiking trip. The room was large, beautiful and very clean. The breakfast was delicious and the staff nice. Amazing value for the price I paid!

Nice hotel in magical location
Nice and beautiful hotel in a magical location, the room is big and comfortable, the only thing we missed in the room was the refrigerator. My advice to anyone who wants to stay in this hotel: you should try the waking path in the black forest. The breakfast was OK, maybe they should think about more variety according to different cultures.

Beautiful setting and excellent staff
There is a beautiful hiking trail right by the hotel. Good souvenir stores right next to hotel. My daughter had her birthday while we were there and the staff ordered her a Black Forest birthday cake and decorated the table for her. I was very impressed with their service to help make this a memorable day for my daughter.

Clean and friendly in a great location
We only spent one night because we drove three hours to enjoy the wellness spa about 5 miles away. We didn't want to get all relaxed and have to drive all the way back. We arrived a bit early so we had to wait to check in. When we asked about the room, they confirmed we had a double sized bed overlooking the main entrance with a great view of the mountains towering over the freeway. However when we finally got to our room, it had two twin beds with a view of the side of the hotel directly staring into a dirt hill :( Still, the staff was polite and spoke English. The complementary buffet style breakfast was great. The service was great and the room was clean but average. The overflow parking lot is down the hill in a dimly lit area. The best part of the hotel is it's location. We ventured off on the hiking train behind the hotel and discovered a beautiful waterfall and well maintained hiking trail. We didn't see any critters but we did catch a glimpse of a fish in the river just down from the waterfall.
