The front desk of this property is still closed, so you actually have to check in at a different hotel nearby. This was the first of a series of inconveniences because the hotel rooms, amenities, restaurants etc. did not all fall under the same owner/management. My refrigerator's ice/water was out of service so I called the 24/7 number to see where I could get ice. At first they said they could bring some up, but when I gave my room number they realized I was at Crystal Peak Lodge and they said they couldn't bring me anything, and suggested I go to the supermarket. We passed an arcade in the same building as the restaurant affiliated with the hotel and my kids got excited. But apparently the arcade belongs to a different hotel so we couldn't check it out. An indoor pool, hot tubs, and a bowling alley are all available, but they're located at the hotel where you check in, a gondola ride away. The whole thing is odd.
I'm sure for extended stays it might feel like a fun, quirky adventure, but for a quick trip alone with my two small kids (ages 5 & 6), I found it pretty frustrating. Especially on the last day when we skied after checking out so my kids and I were lugging our ski gear around looking for the "check-in hotel" front desk so that I could get a temporary access card to get my car out of the parking garage of my hotel - a gondola ride away.
Not convenient experience I expected for the price.
The room was gorgeous and the proximity to the ski-lift was amazing.
