This central area is the heart of Bouillon, offering convenient access to its main attractions. You'll find a concentration of hotels, restaurants, and local shops located within the winding streets leading up to the castle, and along the riverbanks. The pedestrian bridge crossing the Semois near the castle is a central landmark.

Couples will find the town centre particularly appealing due to its romantic setting and easy access to historic sights. Imagine a leisurely stroll along the river, followed by a meal at a riverside restaurant, all within walking distance of your accommodation. The castle itself, with its impressive night illuminations and falconry displays, provides a memorable experience.

For families, staying in the town centre means less travel time to activities that children will enjoy. Beyond the castle, there are opportunities for exploring the nearby animal park or taking a paddle boat ride on the Semois, all easily reachable from a central base.

The best time to go to Bouillon is often during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October) months, when the weather is pleasant and the natural beauty of the Ardennes region is at its peak.

During spring, the countryside around Bouillon bursts into life with fresh greenery and blooming flowers, making it ideal for outdoor activities like hiking and cycling along the Semois River. The temperatures are mild, typically ranging from 10°C to 20°C, great for exploring the Bouillon Castle or taking a leisurely boat trip. This period offers a comfortable balance of good weather and fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season.

Autumn also provides a fantastic experience, especially for those who appreciate scenic landscapes. The forests surrounding Bouillon transform into a spectacular array of red, orange, and gold hues. Temperatures are similar to spring, usually between 8°C and 18°C, which is excellent for walking through the woods or visiting local markets. The autumn months are also a good time to enjoy local cuisine and seasonal produce without the bustling summer crowds.

For families, the summer months of July and August are also a popular choice. While it can be busier, the warmer weather (averaging 20°C to 25°C) is ideal for water activities on the Semois, exploring the castle, and enjoying outdoor events.
