Having never stayed in a room this small before, we found it difficult to manage and use. Tolerable for one person, not two. The bathroom was even more difficult to use.

Great position by train station, really good choice at breakfast, staff very helpful and provided a kettle on request. Rooms small but more than adequate for a few nights.

The hotel is conveniently located near the railway station. Close to the entertainment district of Bochum with lots of bars and restaurants to chose from. In order to get to the hotel from the train station you have to pass through groups of intoxicated homeless folks. It might have been an exception but I was woken up in the morning at 8 by guests playing music very loud in their rooms. Doors were propped open the party moved between various rooms and the hallway. I asked the guests to turn the music down. Shortly after, a full bottle of beer was thrown at my door. The bottle broke and beer spilled under the door. I tried to reach the front desk by phone, because I did not feel safe. The front desk did not pick up. I walked down to the front desk to complain. I was told by the staff that everything is ok, because the guest that had caused the disturbance just had checked out. Later a member of house keeping cleaned up the broken glass and offered me to move into a different room, as my room needed serious cleaning as the beer had spilled into my room and soaked the carpet. I did not feel safe any longer and left as early as possible. The communication of the front desk staff in this situation was not adequate. Everything is clean, but the bathrooms are very small. They are so small that you have to sit sideways on the toilet. The rooms are reasonably priced, but the low price might attract customers, that do not know how behave in a hotel.

Some of the staff were nice and helpful. Very basic accommodations. Very good restaurant across the street and very convenient to train station. The reviewer that said he had to sit sideways on the toilet was probably not exaggerating but the sink would get in the way if you moved to far.

Good Hotel, Great Value
The hotel is well located, very close to the central station. The staff were very friendly, immediately assisting with a request for a late checkout which was much appreciated. The room was very clean and very nice but a little bit on the small side, though fine for a hotel of this standards (and price). This is a better hotel than the nearby Ibis Styles- it’s more comfortable and modern and not much more expensive. The breakfast was very good; plenty of options and I appreciated and enjoyed the fresh waffle machine they had whilst I was there. In the room there wasn’t tea or coffee facilities, which was a shame, but perfectly manageable. Room noise was very low- some noise from the corridor and the nearby road, but nothing too intrusive or load. Overall, a nice place to stay and recommended when in a Bochum.

Disappointing
Our 4-night stay at the Bochum Ibis was very disappointing. Yes, the beds are comfortable and the breakfast buffet was great but the bathrooms are so tiny that my husband could only sit sideways on the toilet! The soundproofing is substandard so that guests who return late disturb others. We will never stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay.

Rooms were good enough, but be warned when staying here on a weekend ask for a room that is not facing the square behind the station as there is a nightclub there. Needless to say I didn't get any sleep until about 4am.

Inexpensive and modern hotel
The hotel is relatively inexpensive. It seemed relatively modern and comfortably. The room is small, but it had everything that I needed. It is close to the central railroad station, which has local and regional connections as well as a sub-way. One thing to note is that the walls, especially to the corridor, is quite thin, and thus the room can at times be a bit noisy.

The Ibis Bochum Zentrum (IBZ) is located directly adjacent to the Bochum HBF train station. Walk out the back entrance of the HBF, and the IBZ is directly in front of you. (If you walk out the front entrance, turn to the left and walk through the underpass on University Ave.) The IBZ is a typical Ibis property. The rooms are quite small, but clean, modern and comfortable. The staff at the IBZ was very accomodating and efficient. I needed an early check-in, and there was no problem with that at all. There is nothing of interest in the immediate neighborhood, as the IBZ is on the "other side" of the railroad tracks from downtown Bochum. However, the IBZ is only a 5 minute walk to the "good side" of the railroad tracks, which is the lively part of Bochum.

For a weekend stay the hotel is what you want, if you cannot afford luxury, but dont want real budget. Right on top of the station, which is the hub of Bochum, across the road from the shops and 5 mins wall to the Bermuda deck (bars, restaurants etc). The room was very clean and the hotel looks newly refurbished. Although the bathroom was a little small, it was adequate for 2 nights, but the bed was very good. Dont forget to catch Starlight Express, a taxi is 7€ from the station to the theatre.
