Find hotels in Blacksod from £73

The best time to visit Blacksod, County Mayo, is generally during the summer months, from June to August, when the weather is mildest.

During this period, you'll experience the longest daylight hours, which is great for exploring the peninsula's natural beauty. Average temperatures hover around 15-18°C, and while rain is always a possibility in Ireland, these months typically see less of it than the rest of the year. This makes outdoor activities like walking, cycling, and boat trips more enjoyable.

Couples looking for a relaxing escape will appreciate the extended daylight for scenic drives along the Wild Atlantic Way and enjoying sunsets over the Atlantic. Families will find the warmer temperatures more comfortable for beach outings and exploring the local area without the chill of other seasons.

For those interested in birdwatching, late spring (May) and early autumn (September) can also be excellent, as this is when migratory birds are most active around the Blacksod Lighthouse and the surrounding coastline.
