Barley cottage is a very private, beautiful cottage with a large garden overlooking an orchard. Parking space just by the cottage. Light and airy, 3 metres by 4 metres conservatory added April 2009 with french doors onto a patio area and wonderful views all around. Separate lounge with dining area and lovely views across the valley and the opportunity to watch a wide variety of birds take seeds from the bird feeder on the nearby tree. There are three steps down to a separate fitted kitchen, which includes ceramic hob, cooker, dishwasher, microwave, and fridge. Double bedroom with en-suite shower room. Barley is colour co-ordinated in creams and terracotta and offers our guests an exceptional standard and a lot of space for two people. Very, very popular with our guests as lots of space for two people, especially with the lovely conservatory. Barley is a dog friendly cottage.

Excellent.
The cottage was very comfortable and clean and everything we needed ( and more) was supplied. The location is perfect - quiet, beautiful scenery, with easy access to the coast, and to surrounding towns and picturesque villages.

A relaxing holiday experience.
The overall experience of the area of North Devon, Hartland peninsula, was one of calm and friendliness. We were enthusiastically welcomed by the owner of the cottage we rented and everything was well organised and presented including the provision of a cream tea and bottle of wine. The highlight of our visit was probably our visit to Clavelly on our last day. It is an amazing village which has been preserved over time. That is not to say that we did not enjoy all our explorings of the area especially the wonderful beaches that our dog also thoroughly enjoyed. I would highly recommend a visit to experience the whole area.
Bailey Cottage is amazing with a fully enclosed garden for your dog
Bailey Cottage has the most beautiful surroundings. The cottage itself was very clean. The garden was fully enclosed with chicken wire to prevent your dogs going under the fence. -perfect. There was an abundance of pretty flowered pots with a very well maintained gardens and grounds. The different birds spotted on the feeders was lovely to watch.
We loved the remote area but with easy access to the SW Coastal path and the dog friendly pubs.
The cottage is nice and quiet (except for when our dog barks). It is also pitch dark at night which was really good. There are sensor lights outside.
Even though is was a contactless tour around the cottage etc you are given a very detailed email of the cottages facilities.
Martin was always easily contactable if needed.
We visited Clovelly, Docton Mill Gardens with a walk to Spekes Mill mouth waterfall, Brownsham to Blackchurch rock, Harland Point Lighthouse to Abbey River, Saunton Beach, Ilfracombe and from Clovelly to Angel Wings. Also dinner at The Hart Inn, The Kings Arms and The Hoops Inn.
We throughly enjoyed our week away.
Spacious and comfortable, spotlessly clean. Due to Covid-19, some items had been removed from the property but we had everything we needed (bar a teapot but I used the coffee pot!). Safe parking, powerful shower, light and airy conservatory, many accessible walks direct from the cottage. Enjoyed watching the wildlife in the garden. Martin was a good source of information and clearly takes pride in the surroundings; the potted plants and orchard are a wonderful sight. Would prefer darker/heavier curtains in the bedroom to block out the light. Take something for stings/bites if going during horsefly season (July) as they are virulent in the walks through the woods. We'll definitely return!

Awesome spot
lovely spot and amazing cottage, I can't rate this place enough. The Barley Cottage was perfect, boasting a conservatory looking out into the garden. The owner was very accommodating and had thought of everything, the cottage even came with a first aid and seeing kit!
The surrounding area also had some great beaches within walking distance.
