A wonderful place to stay in the heart of Beja
This converted convent is a wonderplace to stay, and right in the heart of Beja. The room was very quiet; the breakfast was wonderful. Our only complaints are that the bed is extremely hard, and the room smells like an old hospital room.

Beautiful posada centrally located in old convent. Spacious and well-appointed rooms, comfortable beds, lovely bathroom. Excellent and very full breakfast buffet, dinner food and service sub-par. Reception upon arrival a bit cold

As it was an old monastery, the feeling of the 750 year old is still impressive. The rooms have been modernized with individual bathrooms etc. but it still has the feel of the old original feeling with its large curved ceilings and the reception is the entrance to the old original Church. As it is an old monastery, note that it does not look like any of the modern hotels, it is by the police station. Very quiet in the evenings, I could hear a pin drop, I only wished I had more time to explore the whole hotel. I will have to visit there again.

Second time at this pousada. Love it. Even when cold outside, had to sleep with the window open. Too hot and unable to alter the temperature on air conditioning.

Lovely Accommodation
It's a great location to base youself, for exploring Beja. It's only a 10 minute walk to the castle. The communal areas are cavernous and the garden with the pool is inviting.

A Very Special Place
Fantastic converted Nunnery from the 12th Century—frescoed vaulted ceilings, besutiful grounds, amazing, cavernous common areas for lounging. A lovely and comfortable bedroom—where nuns once slept! This is a very beautiful, very special place. I was on a bicycle but if you have a car it is worth going out of your way to stay! Super super staff! Loved everything!

Peaceful and comfortable.
Impressive conversion - nice hotel to simply wander around. Room was a bit basic - but well done and comfortable. Good food and conveniently sited. Will stay here again if I am in the area. Surprisingly quiet & peaceful given its location right in the middle of the town. Nice looking pool area. Impressive public rooms and a really nice covered cloister set round a little garden.

Well worth staying here, everything was lovely, great breakfast and free parking too which is a major plus . Pousada de Beja is a 5 minute walk into the center. Will definitely be coming back again

Pousada in Beja
This Pousada is a beautiful hotel. Huge common rooms with rediculously high ceilings. Our guest room was a converted convent cell with a vaulted ceiling and modern comforts. The bathroom was really nice, clean and inviting. The inclusive buffet breakfast was just as good as the other Pousadas we've stayed in previously. The staff we spoke to were very friendly particularly the young lady looking after the breakfast service and the female receptionist we met when checking out. One negative is our room didn't have an electric kettle with tea/coffee making facilities. This is common across most Pousadas I think. Aside from that, its a great hotel. Beja is very nice town with lots of history. Ideal if you want a night or two away from home or as part of a bigger trip.

Middle Ages in the Current Century
Very unique experience staying in a 13th century monastery. With all the character and history but modernized very nicely. Central location, convenient parking, great facilities, Wifi and breakfast. And you can send unique photos to friends and family with the wow factor.

Off beaten track in tastefully converted Convent
There was a EU conference scheduled the day of our departure, so the staff was stressed and extremely concerned about getting us out of their way. We were informed of this in advance and we decided that it wouldn’t take away from our plans. Neat place in a very typical Portuguese town. That’s what we were looking for.

Another great Pousada
Just a night in Beja - stayed at another Pousada - hotelscrun by hotel group Pestana in some of Portugal’s historic buildings. This one is an old convent - huge spaces, historic interest and clean rooms located in the old building.

When we travel, we try to stay in unique and interesting places. The Pousada Convento now ranks as one of our top 10 places in the world. This establishment was a former convent. The common areas are stunning. We appreciated the historical details.

Portugal -where time has passed by.
We were on a “voyage of exploration” to experience inland Portugal. It is a poor, sad country. However, the Pousada itself was most comfortable, and the service was impressive. We were upgraded to the Royal Suite for a very small additional charge, and the dinners in the restaurant were fine. The wines from Alentejo were well chosen and fairly priced.

Elegant and well appointed, this was a special spot. Apart from needing to leave our window open to avoid overheating, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The pousada is close to all museums and sites.

Great hotel, wonderful location
Wonderful facility, friendly and very helpful staff addressed all our needs and answered all questions with additional useful information. The restaurant is terrific, both for dinner and breakfast. Dinner was our best during a week in Portugal.

Great Hotel
We very much enjoyed out stay. The pool was perfect the staff very accommodating and the Convent with all it's history was a pure pleasure. Had a wonderful meal.

Hotel itself is an historical building and worth exploring. Room was smallish but comfortable. Poola rea and grounds good. Ample parking. Quiet and peaceful. Great public areas.

Nice hotel friendly staff.
We had a problem with a different hotel and joaquim cardeira helped us well beyond what would be expected. The staff at this hotel is the best ive seen in my travel. They made our trip enjoyable. Highly recommended

Beautiful little jewel in Beja.
This hotel is an architectural gem. The common spaces are vast, perfect for a function or wedding, with many smaller rooms for reading, resting, or sipping a drink. Though we did not have time to enjoy the outdoor spaces, they look equally well appointed, including a pool. The building and all of its amenities, and the very warm and competent staff, made for a lovely stay. We only wish we had been able to spend another night or two.

Beautiful and quiet hotel.
Very nice pousada and with good location. Food was fine and good parking in courtyard. Beds were VERY hard and uncomfortable as always in Spain and Portugal.

The hotel was fine but Beja itself did not have much to offer. Therefore would not recommend it for more than a one night stay

Lovely oasis in the heat
Delighted to find a rather extravagant, cool and welcoming accommodation after a hot walk up the hill, in a place, where we were not sure quite what to expect - a big relief. The pool was a welcome bonus and very much appreciated. The staff were welcoming and helpful. A special thank you to the very kind gentleman on night duty at reception who helped me out when I ran into a bit of trouble with a 'lost' husband!
