Beautiful old building near downtown

Posted 09-Jan-2018
Pros: I liked the friendly staff, good food, comfortable accommodations and the history of the house.
Cons: The public rooms of the Rhett House could use some updating. The furniture needs to be replaced or recovered. It looked a little worn.
Location: Downtown Beaufort is a few steps away. It's lots of nice stores and restaurants. I especially enjoyed the Rhett Gallery.
My sister and I loved our cottage room with its cozy electric fire place and huge bathroom. It had a jacuzzi tub which we did not use. Our room had a nice little porch. The decor was nice. The room was furnished with a rice bed, a comfy chair, small desk and plenty of mirrors. The bed was comfortable and the bedding and towels were of good quality. Breakfast was delicious. We had lots of choices. One day we had omlettes, the next French toast. Dessert was served at 7 nightly and it was delicious. We had pecan pie, lemon pie, raspberry layer cake and some delightful pecan pastry. Wine and cheese was offered at 5. Cookies were available during the day. We met lots of lovely people. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. The weather was unusually cold and Beaufort was covered with ice. However we still had a great time and enjoyed our stay at Rhett House.

Overall our stay was enjoyable. Staff was generally friendly. The breakfast was good but did not meet my expectations based on how it was touted on the Rhett website. It was nice that evening snacks were provided but it was the same cheese, crackers and hummus every day and we were there 5 days. Desserts were also provided each night which again is a nice feature, but I expect items made from scratch not boxes. It was great to have access to bikes and beach chairs but the condition of them was less than desirable. One night the air conditioner in our room stopped working. It was fixed the next day. The bed was not the most comfortable. Location to historic downtown is great.

Beautiful historic home. Good breakfast and it was fun to come in in the evening and have a choice of desserts.

Pros: Karen and the location
Cons: Update bathrooms and beds
Location: Great/Perfect location, walking distance to restaurants, shops and the water
Karen the Manager was exceptional, she made us feel very welcome and treated us really well, we loved meeting her. The night person was not so friendly. The facility is very beautiful and quaint, room was clean. The beds were not comfortable and the bathrooms are very small and need some updating.

Beautiful Historic Inn

Posted 02-Jun-2017
We loved staying at the Rhett House Inn. The staff was very attentive, making us feel at home with family members. The house is one of the most beautiful in the South and full of history. The food was excellent and always available. The Inn is located within walking distance of downtown Beaufort and the other mansions in this wonderful town. One of our favorite stays ever!

Staff was awesome, the room was under-whelming

Beautfort was fantastic! I must say that the staff of Rhett House is what made our stay the MOST enjoyable. Elizabeth was especially sweet and helpful, telling us about all the fun things going on in town. They have great amenities (bikes, champagne upon arrival, deserts in the evening). I was somewhat disappointed in the room, however. I left a comment card, so I believe the issues were addressed (fan in bathroom not working, night light not working, mold in the shower). To spend over $300 per night, I wouldn't have expected a plastic shower, big plastic bath tub (although it was jetted), and the way the "ADA" bathroom door was "rigged" was just plain ugly... not the types of finishes and details you would expect for that amount of money. We enjoyed having the screened porch with privacy. It had two comfy wicker chairs & table, but only one rocking chair...? It would have been fantastic to be able to open the two windows in the front to let the breeze in too, but they were painted shut! Perhaps the cottage needs a little more attention and upgrades. Again, the staff were the BEST! The morning servers,Anna & Chandalyn, the Inn Keepers, Elizabeth, Amy & Gloria, and Karen, the manager... all FANTASTIC! When we return to Beaufort, we will probably check out a different historic B & B.
