"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mike’s place. We had a lovely day at alpine lake and spent our second day hiking the Arnold Rim and then heading to a local winery. The home was so peaceful. Dinner at Sarafina’s topped it all off."
"Isolated location but convenient for hiking, fishing, etc. Cottages are well constructed and comfortable. Try to get one a bit away from the restaurant. Good choice for younger travelers looking to enjoy the outdoors; not so much for older people with any mobility issues."
"Love this place!!! The rooms were very clean and had a beach view of the river. The food is great. If you run into Paul, say Hi from us. He was the star of the show and made sure every step of our trip was great. Traveling with a 2 year old is a blast but also a lot of work. Come here, eat the food and visit Pinecrest. It will take you back in time to small town summer vibes."
"We stayed for a few days and a family of five it accommodated all of us with beds and space. It was a wonderful stay, the staff was helpful to let us know places and things to do as well as getting extra towels or anything. The area is beautiful too! Definitely a must stay spot if you need a place to stay in the area! Oh and the fact it’s 5 mins from the Calaveras redwoods was awesome!"
HOT TUB, RIVERFRONT CHALET FAMILY & DOG FRIENDLY ON ACRE NEAR 3 SKI AREAS, SLED
10/10 Excellent
"The house was great, just as described. Location was excellent with river access out back and hiking trails just down the road. Very dog friendly, including the fully fenced backyard. We appreciated the bear horns and we had a bear visit us the first morning! The bear wandered up to the backyard fence while our dog and my wife were out back. It turned away after our dog barked and then proceeded to casually walk to the front of the house and wander into the neighborhood. Inside of the house was comfortable and had everything we needed for cooking and hanging out."
Dog-Friendly Home with Large Deck, Wood Stove, & WiFi
10/10 Excellent
"We enjoyed many of the attributes this home has to offer. The kitchen is large and spacious with a nice gas stove and oven. All appliances worked great for us. The common room was comfortable with plenty of seating for our family of 7. The grandkids loved the big rug with pictures of local wildlife. Each bedroom has access to a well appointed, updated bathroom. Although one is a Jack & Jill bathroom, there’s a third full bathroom on the main floor. We enjoyed the roomy deck with gas grill. We were able to eat many of our meals on the back deck. This is a quiet street within the neighborhood with almost no traffic. Very peaceful. We really enjoyed our stay.
Cons: lots of stairs to climb when loading in or out. A few strong folks makes it easier. The driveway is very steep and would be scary in the snow without the proper tires or 4 WD."
"Great place to get away in the Summer.
It’s a place for hiking and reading.
And a great restaurants near the Lake.
Not a big party place, but deeply reflective.
Take a date!"
"The Creekside Inn is basic, but in Alpine County, if that's where you want to be (and it offers incredible outdoor opportunities and natural beauty year-round!), basic is pretty good. It's quiet, and not at all as pricey as most of the alternatives (of which there are very few). Fabulous restaurant, Stonefly, across the street, is open for dinner Th-Sun. We haven't tried the hotel next door as an alternative for dinner M-W, but that's basically your only option. For decent coffee, there is Mad Dog Cafe in Woodford's, though it doesn't open till 9 a.m. We arrived about 5 p.m. and the room was quite warm. It does cool off at night, but be aware there is no air-conditioning (though we know from past experience, that the heat does work in the winter! Comfortable beds, clean bathroom, one sitting chair, and a TV -- do you need more?"
