The property was clean upon arrival. It was nicely decorated and cozy.
We visited during July 4th, which happened to be the hottest week of the summer so far.
The issue I have with the property is that the listing failed to mention the home did not have air conditioning. I only discovered this after I made the reservation and received a confirmation email. At that point, my money was non-refundable.
Despite having ceiling fans, the bedrooms reached a temperature of 84 degrees at night. This was very uncomfortable.
Furthermore, we had no hot water when we arrived. I called the owner and he explained it needed to be turned on and that was outlined in the welcome binder. After searching, the binder was found at the bottom of a stand in the dining area underneath a bowl. In my opinion, this welcome book should have been left in a conspicuous area, such as the kitchen bar. Nowhere in the check-in instructions does it say to turn on the hot water. The only place I found it was in the checkout instructions.
Additionally, we discovered, by chance, on the 2nd day that the gas logs had been left on. We started to smell the gas and felt some heat when standing in front of it.
I’m writing this so people will know that there isn’t air conditioning, which is fine for some, but should be made obvious on the listing BEFORE the money is paid. I wouldn’t have booked this property in July despite the elevation and having ceiling fans. Make it bold and highlighted in the listing.
