Spacious Cottage Perfect for a Peaceful and Quiet stay on the Ocean with Beach

  • Friendly Cottage on Oceanside, Bailey Island is now available for your seaside vacation, no matter the season. This well-insulated cottage, heated and cooled by solar and geothermal systems, is appealing during the less - crowded brisk Maine springs, the lazy ocean-breezed days of summer, the colorful crisp days of fall, or the quiet peaceful days of winter.
    Friendly cottage is on the east side of the island with an unhindered view of Casco Bay and spectacular sunrises, and sits on a secluded beach at the dead end of a quiet neighborhood.
    Yet, the cottage is in walking distance of the local general store, post office, a non-denominational church, several local eateries including the famous Cook's Lobster House as well as Mackerel Cove, the hub of the fishing and boating community. Entertaining and socializing has a comfortable flow in this 3 bedroom-2 bathroom home - perfect for family get-togethers, reunions, special events or simply a nest to enjoy the Maine experience. The nearest shopping centers are in Brunswick (13 miles away and a 30 minute drive). Stopping at a grocery store before you come to Bailey Island might be more convenient, although there is a general store with limited supplies.
    Friendly Cottage is an excellent example of a home built with many innovative technologies including solar hot water panels and geothermal, just to name a few. If you are considering building an energy efficient home with all or some of these technologies, come for a stay!

Beautiful home with great views of the ocean from inside and out. The house was comfortable and very clean. Outside spaces were beautiful, loved the Adirondack chairs where the lawn met the ocean, well landscaped with lots of flowers, and the table and chairs next to the grill also had a great view. Loved exploring the small beaches you could walk to right from the house.

My family and I had a wonderful, relaxing stay at this beautiful spot. The best feature was the amazing ocean view from the living room and primary bedroom. Just a short walk from the door and across the lawn takes you to the water's edge and your comfy Adirondack chairs to take it all in. The cottage was clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was well-equipped if you are looking to make your own meals. There were also plenty of board games and some DVDs. Be aware that the few restaurants in the immediate area are closed Monday/Tuesday, at least at the time we were there (late May). Brunswick and Bath are around 30 minutes drive for more dining options. Our friendly hosts Eric and Laurie were always available if we needed anything, but we didn't since everything was great! Wish we could have stayed longer!

If you’re looking for a Prefect Place to stay look no further. Great view of the Atlantic sitting on the chairs, the host are very friendly, and the house is very spacious and comfortable. We’ve been here twice and will be back.

Mother daughter getaway

Friendly Cottage was beyond amazing for my week long getaway with my 2 daughters. The location and views can’t be beat and the house was perfectly laid out and equipped with everything we needed. We lucked out with incredible weather so found ourselves on the beach almost every morning and evening. We can’t wait to come back!

The house was better than we could have imagined and our hosts provided so much more than we’ve ever received. They had extra blankets and pillows, more than one roll of toilet paper, dish soap, and MORE! The views were breathtaking and the best part was the private beach where we were able to hunt for shells and sea glass.

Beautiful island

The house was beautiful and comfortable. The view was incredible. Good restaurants and the Bailey Island General Store has fresh lobster. Clos to Freeport for shopping. The island has some nice trails for hiking.

Fabulous stay in Bailey Island

This picturesque home was immaculate, charming and well-appointed. Sitting in the red chairs staring at Casco Bay was like meditating. Lots of walks and small beaches close by. Nice eating options nearby but not always open during our stay. We would definitely return to enjoy more of this beautiful area.

Wonderful week on Bailey Island

We had a wonderful stay at this very well equipped home on the ocean. Very comfortable for 4 Adults and 1 young child. Fully Air Conditioned with all the essential amenities. Highly recommend this rental if you seek a quiet getaway with an awesome view.

Relaxing and beautiful

This is our second time to stay at this house and we love it. The house is comfortable and the location is ideal. You are close enough to do day trips to see all the cute areas, but there is plenty to do on Bailey Island. The yard is great to play in with our daughter (4 yr olds) and there are nice shorelines to walk when tide is low.

An amazingly wonderful place to stay - clean, comfortable, quiet. Neat location. Spent a lot of time out on the point - just watching the waves and relaxing. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Everything you could want is included. Highly recommended!

Beautiful home in fabulous location!

6 of us recently stayed here for a family wedding. The house is absolutely wonderful, spacious bedrooms, well appointed kitchen, comfy beds, and amazing view. The house is a newer build but made to the standards of old, with nice chunky mouldings, handcrafted built in cabinets and vintage look hardware. We all loved it and would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay on Bailey Island.

Absolutely Amazing!

The property and home was absolutely beautiful. We had a blast roaming on the rocks, looking for Sea glass and hermit crabs. The views from everywhere in the home and on the property were absolutely amazing. Everything was provided for you in the home in the house was absolutely immaculate.

Breathtaking

We absolutely loved our stay at the Friendly Cottage! It's a beautiful, peaceful area and one we will be telling others about. Lots of wonderful local restaurants and a little gift shop at the end of the island. A wonderful secluded beach is just down the road. The main bedroom upstairs has a super cozy bed and amazing sunrises to start your day. Thank you for sharing your place with us. We hope to visit again!

Family time

A perfect spot for us to gather and enjoy family time with unobstructed views of the bay and daily visits of Common Eiders (cool looking ducks!) feeding in the estuaries below. It was hard to find a home with 3 bdrms with king or queens beds for us and adult children and this worked out great. It’s within an hour’s drive of Portland and Boothbay Harbor which enabled us to explore both, the outlets and Costal Botanical Gardens (a must to see Thomas Dambo’s giant troll sculptures!!) Thank you Eric we are so happy we found your place!
