3 day bike rides i Heidelberg, Heilbronn and Cologne
We had beautiful 3 nights stay at Schloss Lehen. Dinner at hotel was really good with a nice selection in menue. We arrived early so we enjoyed a little picnic on their cosy lawn before checking in. All was ship shape and staff great despite hosting a huge wedding day before...some guests finished last of wedding cake in garden

Hhhmmm
The restaurant was closed, which, of course, it would have been preferable if we had been informed about this on the website etc., before we arrived after 12 hours in the car. On the other hand, we were lucky to get a luxury room with a view of a construction site. The receptionist did not look like someone who was dressed for work. It must have been a nice place once

wunderschönes Badezimmer, gute Betten, leider sehr lauter knarrender Boden

Regrettably this was only a one night stay.
Schloss Lehen is located in the old town and has a first rate bar and restaurant on-site.
Our room was huge though only modestly furnished. One minor problem - the windows in our room did not appear to have functioning curtains that pull fully too.
The rooms had to be accessed via a spiral staircase as the lift appeared to be out of action.
Buffet breakfast selection was good.
We really enjoyed our stay in this German castle! To access rooms on an upper level, you can take a spiral staircase, or a very small elevator. The detail throughout the place was quite lovely, ranging from the sconces on the wall, the family crests in the lounge, and the old fashioned door keys. There's a nice bar right next to the check in desk, which is open until 9pm (but depending on who is working that night, they may keep it open longer for you). And the breakfast spread in the morning is wonderful - eggs, traditional German bread, rolls, cheeses, lox, coffee, juices, yogurt, fresh fruit, etc... we really enjoyed it and looked forward to it each morning. Two things to be aware of... the floors in the rooms are wooden and VERY creaky. And the second, the 2 rooms we were in (superior rooms on the second floor) had a shower attached to a very high tub, meaning it was hard for one of our travelers (my 74 year old mom) to step into. But the hotel was able to provide a step stool which helped her out.
Overall, we loved this place and would stay here again!

Hiukan kolkko, mutta siisti hotelli.
Aika karu huone.
