Built in 1894 by stonemason Robert Stanley, this registered historic landmark has undergone extensive renovations while still retaining its stately charm. Original stone walls? Yessir. Beautiful woodwork throughout? Yes ma'am. Updated kitchen and bathrooms? Yes, please! You'll find period details from back in the day, like handcrafted stairs, a mahogany library, and clawfoot tubs are juxtaposed nicely with the modern conveniences of high-end appliances, large tiled baths, marble showers, and 24 double-hung windows that allow great views and changing light during the day. The main house is comforting and warm, with three floors of beautifully designed flex living spaces, 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Bedroom 1 (1st floor) with 1 king size bed Bedroom 2 (2nd floor) with 1 king size bed Bedroom 3 (2nd floor) with 2 twin size beds Bedroom 4 (Ground floor) with 1 queen size bed Living space (Ground floor) with 1 queen sofa bed Do you want to feel special? The fourth room is in a small cabin on the patio out back, which has a queen bed and a full bathroom, not to mention a spacious lawn for reenacting your favorite duels at high noon. Just outside the cabin, you'll find a BBQ, a large dining table for enjoying some grub and a sitting area where you can hang out with your gang. Did we mention there's a pool?! Jump in and cool off during those hot Texas summer days (Above ground pool. Available from May to October). The Stanley is located just two blocks west of the South Congress entertainment district (did somebody say Torchy's?!), as well as major Austin attractions. You won't find an authentic Texas experience this close to downtown anywhere else. Registered both as a city and state landmark, The Stanley's contemporary upgrades give you the best of both worlds. Traveling with your furry friend? We allow 2 dogs as long as their combined weight is no more than 60 lbs. (Must sign a pet agreement, and there's a fee per night. Certain breed restrictions apply.) If you're looking for a stay that's about as Texas as it gets, then come on in, y'all. This lavish historical estate will have you feeling like a cattle baron without having to spend like one. Step inside The Stanley and take a trip back in time. Don't wait to reserve. Your retreat awaits! Guest Access You'll have full, exclusive access to the home and cabin. Interaction with Guests It's self-check-in using a code. All the access codes will be provided to you before your arrival. You'll have complete privacy during your stay, but we're available 7 days a week. Should you need anything, just send us a message! Other things to note Guests must climb stairs inside the home. We provide some bath essentials like soap, shampoo, conditioner, body gel, toilet paper, and some garbage bags. Please note that these are not replenished during your stay. Daily house cleaning is not available however, if you would like a mid-stay cleaning, one can be arranged for a fee. Please let us know in advance. Guests will need to sign a Rental Agreement upon booking confirmation and/or upon arrival. A security deposit may be required prior to arrival or at check-in, subject to the booking platform used to make the reservation. This fee is charged as a credit card transaction and refunded after check-out, provided all terms are met. We kindly ask all guests to abide by these HOUSE RULES: \- Above ground pool. Available from May to October. \- Travelers must be at least 21 years old or older to book. \- No smoking of any kind (tobacco, cannabis, etc.) inside the home, and the use of any recreational drugs on the premises is strictly prohibited. Failure to comply will incur a $300 penalty. \- No parties, events, or illegal activities are permitted, and no excessive noise, especially between 10:00 pm and 7 am, will be tolerated. Please respect the neighbors. \- No more guests than those listed in your reservation are allowed. \- Renters agree to cover any charge related to damages that occurred during their stay or extra-cleaning charges if needed after their stay. \- Renters may be required to provide a government ID on check-in day or during their stay when identity verification is necessary. \- Pet-friendly, dogs only, with a signed pet agreement and a pet fee of $25 per night. Two dogs max (sorry, no puppies) with a combined weight of 60 lbs. The Neighborhood When the weather is pleasant, enjoy walking through the beautiful tree-lined streets of this eclectic neighborhood. You will find tons of shops and restaurants and some music venues on lively South Congress Avenue - less than a mile away. From South Congress Avenue, downtown Austin is just another mile north. You can also easily get over to the Rainey Street District, East Austin, Zilker Park, and Bouldin - all within 3 miles. Getting around The nearest international airport is Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS/KAUS) 9.2 miles | 14.8 km away. We recommend getting around by car as there are no public transportation options. We could walk to shops and restaurants. Plus there was plenty of space for 8 to gather and communication with the host was great. However, as we got further into our stay there were several cleanliness issues. One perk of this rental is plenty of dishes! But many had food caked on them in the cabinets. Along with utensils that were sticky and in the drawer. Several appliances have seen better days and don't work properly. We were looking forward to using the pool because it was HOT.. But it had not been cleaned out and the water was really stagnate. So we skipped it all together. A couple of friends stayed in the guest house which is on the rustic side and had mold on the shower walls. Overall the property is nice, but the house needs a bit of TLC for the price point. ##### Jillian H.
