On the first night, a member of our group was awoken by a cockroach on them while sleeping. It took hours to reach the owner or the property’s contracted support team.One we got in touch, we provided clear photos and explained that we didn’t feel comfortable continuing our stay due to cleanliness concerns. We requested a refund to relocate, but the host declined explaining that roaches are common in Austin and arranged for an exterminator instead. While we appreciated the effort, treatments don’t resolve cockroach issues immediately.After a point, the host stopped responding to our texts and calls. We only heard back the next day through the VRBO portal stating that no additional roaches were found and were offered a small discount. The property itself had positives like a well-stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, and a convenient location. However, those were overshadowed by the pest issue and the host’s lack of responsiveness. The outside lights never came on. The other problem was parking. The very narrow drive with the bushes was difficul to navigate.
