One of my favorite places!
We loved this historic house! The hosts are so nice and the breakfast breads were delicious! The home has everything needed for a comfortable stay. Highly recommend!

Perfection
It is always a pleasure to stay at my grandmother‘s house that Charlie and Sherry have done such a fabulous job of restoring and maintaining! I always feel that I am going home when I get to stay and it will always be to me Big Mama’s House. We were able to view the eclipse from the front yard. Everything that you could possibly need is there. Dripping Springs has even grown in size and there are many more things to do which I find makes it very enjoyable. We were actually lucky to have the National Guard in town to oversee the celebration. I was able to give several a tour of the house and reminisce about times that I spent there as a kid. I look forward to returning again soon. Thanks again Charlie and Cheri for all that you do to make it always feel like home , I remember all of the great Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners that Big Mama was able to prepare in the kitchen. She could’ve fed half the town at that time. We never thought of it as being too small.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Clara's House. It was just the right size and the location is superb. Very convenient to everything. The bread and snacks were delicious. Thank you again for letting us stay.

Clara’s House
Beautiful historic home in close walking distance to great shopping and restaurants. House was clean, comfortable and cozy. Lovely grounds surround the home and the owner delivers delicious banana bread and coffee cake each day. A very enjoyable stay!

Delicious breakfast bread
Enjoyed walking to coffee shop and shopping at all the great boutiques. Clara's house had everything we needed for a weekend winery trip. A quaint and comfortable cottage with plenty of snacks provided. The breakfast bread was delicious. Will return just for the breakfast bread!!

Weekend wedding stay
The property was cute, homey, and perfect for us the ladies to get ready for the wedding, hang out before the wedding. The pumpkin bread delivered for breakfast was delicious! I had an issue with the booking with VRBO and Sherry (owner of Clara’s house) was quick to reach out personally and help get the reservation straightened out. I would definitely stay again.

Charming house in great location
We stayed in this lovely home as we were in Dripping Springs for a wedding. We were. 4 ppl, two couples and we found the home to be comfortable even with just the one bathroom. Bathroom is very spacious with two sinks and mirrors which made getting ready very easy! The history of the house and property is so Interesting and you really feel Like you are stepping back in time to when the area was first settled. High key recommend this property if you are looking for a great place w loads of charm!

We came for a girls weekend. Clara’s House was everything we wanted! The location was perfect and walking distance to the shops and local speakeasy’s. It was a wonderful experience and we are planning to go back!

Historic gem
We just stayed at this property for a wedding in the area. We had 4 adult family members. Did not realize the historic significance of this property when booked it. What a step back in time with a place that was instrumental in the founding of Dripping Springs. So cool. The layout of the house is what you would expect from something built in 1855, but it is fully modernized and functional. They do not advertise the grounds enough. The back yard is stunning. Picture worthy. Great hosts and rental process. Highly recommend this place.

This place is ADORABLE! It's fun and historic. Clean and inviting. Historic charm, but all the amenities you need! The homemade bread is SOOOOO delicious. We have stayed on the grounds before, but this was our first in the main house. We just love it. Will definitely stay again!!

Great property! Plenty of room for 4 (girls trip). Very walkable to shopping. Lovely outdoor space. Close to distilleries, winery and olive Farm. Host was very responsive and provided breakfast items and coffee.

Perfect home base
This was the perfect place for us to use as a temporary home. We were in town for a wedding but the home provided us the opportunity to see more of Dripping Springs. It was very relaxing. The home is charming and the host friendly.

Charming historic cottage
The cottage was very historic with a lot of charm. Comfortable beds and sofa, large bathroom, sun filled dining room. The only challenge was the kitchen. Functional, but not great to prep a dinner in. If you’re not cooking and don’t need counter space or much in the way of kitchen tools, it’s fine. Good homemade sweet bread for breakfast.

Gorgeous historic home
We stayed for the weekend and the house was lovely! The banana bread that was brought to us was the absolute best! We even enjoyed the mini exploration trip down to the springs on the property. If you’re looking for a quiet nice place to stay in dripping springs, this one is for you! 10/10

A Gem in Dripping Springs
I stayed at Clara's House for three weeks to be near my daughter's family as they welcomed a new baby into their family. The location was the main reason I chose Clara's House, but there were so many other reasons that this vacation rental was ideal. Sherry and Charlie were attentive and responsive. I'd leave for the day and return to find another loaf of delicious quick bread, popcorn, fruit and more water stocked in the refrigerator. This historical home was clean and comfortable. I look forward to another visit to Clara's House when I return to Dripping Springs.

Clara's cottage is quaint and comfortable. Everything was very clean, lots of towels, everything necessary in the little kitchen. Our host were friendly, and bake some delicious breakfast loaves! Would 100% recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Dripping Springs. I was sad to leave.

Convenient, clean and full of charm
We enjoyed staying at this property. It was exactly as described and totally met our needs. My 85 year old dad really liked the historical charm. He kept sending pictures to his brother and other friends. The breakfast breads were yummy, too.

Historic downtown home
This is a beautiful historic house that is just a block away from the shops/restaurants/live music on Mercer St. Everything is very clean and neat, the owners leave you homemade bread each day with other snacks and drinks for your convenience. Love everything about this property!!!

Convenient & Fun Getaway
We stayed at this property the weekend of July 4th. We loved how convenient it was to historic downtown. Fun shopping, coffee house, and nightlife within walking distance. Be is was the weekend of July 4th - two nights had fireworks around and after midnight. Otherwise it was quiet. AC worked great even with nearly 100 deg temps outside. Good wifi at location too. We would love to visit here again.

We came to Dripping Springs for a family wedding. This was our first visit to Austin and environs. Rather than be McTourists we wanted to feel Texas. These lovely houses dating from the late 1800s gave us that opportunity.

The whole experience was excellent from the initial booking, to arrival and staying in Dripping Springs. The cottage is excellent it is spotlessly clean and has everything you need to make your stay as easy comfortable as possible. It is also in a fantastic location literally a few hundred yards from the main heart of the town. Communication with Sherry and Charlie throughout the process was also great. Can't fault it and would highly recommend!!

If you need reliable Wifi, stay elsewhere
*The wifi did not work. Owner/manager investigated and concluded their cable provider is at fault and provided a partial credit. *The cottage lets in a lot of surrounding noise (busy road + late-night music establishment with bass lines pounding until 12 midnight) and while a complimentary white noise machine is provided, it was not enough. If those two things don't bother you, you'll enjoy this location. It's got great history and furnishings, central a/c, a large bathroom and a kitchen. It's also obvious the owner/manager cares about the guests.

My wife, mom and I truly enjoyed our stay in this historic home in the center of Dripping springs. It fit our needs and was central the our entire family wedding events. My mom I believe has already booked to come back in the spring. The homemade Bannana Bread and coffee cake excellent!😁
