It has its own private walled garden, which is part of the 13th century Chateau d'Auray. It is located in a historic street connecting Auray centre and the medieval port of Saint Goustan. All rooms are large, with high ceilings, original beams and fireplaces.Tastefully furnished with Louis XV and Henry II style furniture, tapestries and paintings from around the world. There is a piano in the Chateau room. The spacious living room is full of light, with very comfy sofas, armchairs and cushions. The kitchen and bathrooms are recently renovated with modern facilities, tiled walls and floor. A separate and bright dining room is ideal for colder evenings. Outside, a large patio is a great place for alfresco dining while the garden is ideal for a barbecue. 30' parking in front of property for loading and unloading. Parking places are readily available 150-200m from property. The Manoir is in the heart of this mediaeval town with many restaurants, sea-food specialities, Breton creperies, pizzerias within walking distance. A traditional covered market is 100m away, esp. good for oysters, lobsters and other shell fish and of course for local/ regional products. No need to use car, all necessary shopping for food, clothes and souvenirs ... is a stone throw away. Quick, easy access to SANDY BEACHES (Trinite-sur-Mer, Carnac, Erdeven, Etel),sailing, surfing, cruises on the Gulf of Morbihan and ferries to Atlantic islands. The Gulf of Morbihan had a dozen pretty islands, some public and some private. Rambling, golf and horse-riding, an aquarium, an eco-park and an arboretum add to the wide choice of family activities. The Manoir du Belvedere is spacious, ideal for family gatherings, two families sharing, a big family or a small family. It is situated on 1st floor, with own private entrance and own big, private garden - a rarity in the heart of Auray. Everything is within reach. From here you can walk to get everything you need - from fresh croissants for breakfast to the must-haves for preparing a home-made gourmet dinner. Auray's colourful Monday market will attract you and your children alike. Here you can buy fresh local produce, Breton handicrafts and souvenirs while practising your French! In the covered market, open every morning except Sunday, you will enjoy choosing from a great variety of fish, oysters, mussels and other shell-fish, not to mention a wide range of cheese, fruit and vegetables. Kayaking and cruising the river on electric boats are in Saint Goustan, a stone's throw away from the property. Public swimming pool, tennis courts and library are nearby. Traditional Breton music and dancing ('fest noz') in surrounding towns and villages. You can explore many popular places of South Brittany within a 5-10 minutes' drive - Vannes, Saint-Anne d'Auray,Trinite-sur-Mer,Carnac, Quiberon, Locmariaquer, Iles-aux-Moines, Etel, Rochfort-en-Terre. Glimpses of history: Built on the site of the original 13th century Chateau d'Auray, from cut granite stone auctioned when the chateau was demolished in 1550, the Manoir stores a rich and long history in its walls. It has been renovated by France's master craftsmen. During the renovation we unearthed many traces of the past, from original fireplaces hidden behind modern facades to the chateau-style floor in the living room, equally well concealed under hardboard and which could be restored only by France’s master craftsmen. The higher wall visible from the Garden wall is believed to be part of the Chateau's keep. Visit the iconic, picturesque port of Saint Goustain, across the 12th century bridge, a few meters from the Manoir. This is where Benjamin Franklin arrived in 1776 to seek France’s support for American Independence. You will enjoy walking along the top of the ramparts that overlook the river. Hike upstream to the Champs des Martyrs, legacy of the Royal Navy's involvement in the 'Quiberon Affair' in 1795 and read the inscription (be warned: it is in Latin!). Five minutes by car brings you to world famous Saint-Anne d'Auray. Visited by Pope John Paul II in 1996 and by over half a million pilgrims and tourists every year, the basilica is situated on the spot where, in 1624, a local ploughman had a vision of Saint-Anne, the mother of the Virgin Mary. Many other must-sees only a few minutes drive away. An ideal place for whatever you want to do! ## Property amenities ### Internet - Available in the apartment: WiFi ### Parking and transport - No on-site parking available - Car not required ### Kitchen - Blender - Coffee/tea maker - Cookware, dishware, and utensils - Electric kettle - Hob - Microwave - Oven - Refrigerator - Spices - Toaster ### Dining - Dining table ### Bedrooms - 3 bedrooms - Bedsheets provided ### Bathroom - 2 bathrooms - Bathtub or shower - Hair dryer - Shower - Soap ### Living spaces - Dining table - Fireplace - Living room - Separate dining area ### Entertainment - Books - DVD player - TV with cable/satellite channels ### Outdoor areas - Barbecue grill - Fenced yard - Garden - Outdoor furniture - Patio ### Laundry - Laundry facilities - Washing machine ### Comfort - Air conditioning - Heating ### Pets - Pet friendly - Welcoming cats and dogs only - 2 pets total ### Suitability/Accessibility - If you have requests for specific accessibility needs, please contact the property using the information on the reservation confirmation received after booking. - Handrails in stairways - Upper floors accessible by stairs only - Well-lit path to entrance - Smoke-free property ### Services and conveniences - Housekeeping on request - Iron/ironing board ### Location highlights - Near a hospital - Near a zoo - Near an outlet shopping centre - Near the marina - Near the sea - On a river - On the waterfront ### Things to do - Boat - Kayak - Optional golf privileges - Birdwatching nearby - Cycling nearby - Ecotours nearby - Fishing nearby - Golfing nearby - Hiking/biking trails nearby - Horseback riding nearby - Ice skating nearby - Jet skiing nearby - Kayaking nearby - Sailing nearby - Scuba diving nearby - Snorkelling nearby - Surfing/bodyboarding nearby - Swimming nearby - Theme park nearby - Water skiing nearby - Windsurfing nearby ### Safety features - Carbon monoxide detector (host has indicated there is a carbon monoxide detector on the property) - Smoke detector (host has indicated there is a smoke detector on the property) - Fire extinguisher ### General - Garden - Housekeeping (on request) - Unit size: 1,615 square feet ## Similar properties ![Miscellaneous](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/105000000/104860000/104857700/104857647/3a00e457.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### Domaine du Liziec Vannes - MGallery Collection Vannes - Pool - Spa - Pet-friendly - Parking included 9.6 Exceptional 21 reviews £143 includes taxes & fees 22 Feb - 23 Feb [](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-02-01&endDate=2026-02-23&selected=104857647&PinnedHotelID=104857647&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Marina](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/40000000/39090000/39083700/39083620/da3eb8e2.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### Apartment T1 bis St Goustan Auray - Kitchen - Parking available - Microwave - Living/dining area 10 Exceptional 39 reviews [](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Hotel-Search?startDate=2026-03-02&endDate=2026-03-03&selected=39083620&PinnedHotelID=39083620&HadPinnedHotel=true®ionId=-1&adults=2) ![Marina](https://images.trvl-media.com/lodging/19000000/18960000/18954800/18954737/caf89979.jpg?impolicy=fcrop&w=469&h=201&p=1&q=medium) ### A fisherman's house nestled in the picturesque Saint Goustan port. Nigel was a generous host who kindly met my parents to assist with their arrival ahead of us. Auray is a vibrant and interesting town, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. ##### Belinda D. The moment we entered Nigel’ apartment we knew we had found something very special. It is both elegant and comfortable and perfectly reflects its owners. We were made to feel like visiting friends by our gracious hosts and in all our years of travel we have never been made to feel more welcome. Everything you require for a special holiday retreat is here. We cannot recommend it highly enough. ##### Ken M. We have been visiting France twice a year for some years and I cannot think of a nicer house that we have used and it is certainly excellent value. The parking situation could appear daunting initially but we always managed to find a place 5 or at most 10 minutes walk from the house. Auray is a charming place to explore and the indoor market behind the Mairie (about 200 metres away) is the place to buy good fish, cheese, bread and meat. Thank you Nigel for making your house available to others. ##### Geoff H. Our stay was amazing. The apartment was beautiful and the location was perfect. In addition, Nigel (the owner) was incredibly hospitable and made our stay even better by welcoming us (and our three young kids) and telling us about the history of the Manoir. When we come back to Auray, we will definitely make sure to stay at the Manoir. There is no other place like it to stay in Auray. ##### Xavier B. Nice and cool in the very hot weather we had. Great to sit out on the patio for meals and to sit in the garden to chill out on all the various chairs provided. Perfect location for walking to the port and into the town, although you need good legs for the steepish slopes and the steps up to the house, but good for our leg muscles! Very enjoyable stay ##### Hilary R. We appreciated the excellent detailed instructions for using the house. ##### Linda W. The apartment is huge and tastefully decorated and well equipped with own patio and garden. The owners were very kind and supportive and assisted with any inquiry. Shops, restaurants, supermarkets and the harbour St Goustan are only a couple of steps away and one can find 24-hour free parking spaces also within a short walking distance from the apartment. We absolutely recommend the Manoir and hope to come back soon. ##### Ruth L. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Graeme C. 29 Jul 2018 #### as described as described ##### Graeme C. The house was very spacious and comfortable. We found the bedrooms to be very comfortable and spacious. We used the dining room and the kitchen often for enjoying our breakfast and lunch that we picked up in town. We also liked the games and pamphlets that we in the house. We made use of the walking trails along the river to get some exercise in. We really liked the all the creperies and shops in Auray and St Gustan. We ate dinner out most evenings. We enjoyed the Monday market and the daily market in town. We got some wonderful seafood, fruits and vegetables. We made some nice day trips to Quiberon and Belle l'ile and to the nearby beaches. We would certainly go again and would stay here. Our hosts were very nice and helpful before and during our stay. ##### Gail H. Property is well positioned, clean and well appointed. As we were holidaying with another another couple, we wanted an apartment where we would each have plenty of space and not crammed. This apartment proved ideal for us. However should be we holidaying on our own in this area again, we would still select this apartment. Owner was very gracious and provided any assistance requested. Parking can be a hassle, but once we understood the local environment, no further issues. (Note: On re-reading my previous review it appears to give the impression that this is a Shared apartment, which is not the case. We were only sharing because we were holidaying together and wanted to share the apartment) ##### Bev W. ### 10/10 Excellent #### marta g. 1 Sept 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Perfecto Perfecto ##### marta g. I had some reservations about the style from the photos but when you get there it all makes sense and is in perfect keeping with the amazing manor the flat sits in. The apartment is huge but feels very welcoming. And having the little garden was lovely in the sunshine. The kitchen is more basic than expected but has everything you need. Auray is a great town perfectly situated for exploring the Golfe de Morbihan: good restaurants, big market and fewer tourists than nearby Vannes. Definitely recommended. ##### guy g. Nous recommandions cette location ##### Yannick L. It is a charming property, spacious, in the perfect location for the exploration of the Morbihan. We were mere steps away from convenient markets, cafes and restaurants, and we were well situated to visit Carnac, Rochefort-en-Terre, Pont-Aven and many other fascinating spots. Thank you for your hospitality! ##### Elizabeth B. ### 10/10 Excellent #### Lindsey E. 28 Sept 2019 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### A Lovely Property We really enjoyed our stay at Le Manoir. This is a lovely property and much thought has gone into the decoration and furnishing. The location was very central with short walks down to the port and up to the centre, with loads of bars and restaurants. Nigel was an excellent host, responding quickly to any queries we had, even though he was away at the time. Whilst you have to park in the town car parks, this was not a problem and you can park outside Le Manoir to load/offload. We also had our two Westies, who enjoyed all their walks. Nearly all beaches have dog bans but we did find a couple that were OK. If you have accessibility concerns, you should note that there are around 26 steps to get up to the property but everything is on the same level after that including the garden. Also, if you are a large party , be aware that there is only a small oven and freezer compartment. As there were only two of us this was fine. Thanks again Nigel for a great holiday. ##### Lindsey E.
