This is the best hotel in Athens, Texas. The room was clean, the breakfast was good. I made no use of any of the amenities and so scored it a 4.

Some of the best sleep I’ve had. Bed & pillows are so comfortable. 1 star away from a 5 only bc they’re were no clean towels available in the morning, only wash cloths & the rep said I also had to come get them, no room service to drop them off.

The rooms were located on the first floor. They were clean, the air was a bit musty (possibly due to air conditioning issues ) on entering the rooms. A little bit of air freshener and adjusting the airflow solved the problem. Breakfast was excellent, great food options. All Staff were helpful and friendly.

The breakfast was fantastic. Everything was clean, and well maintained. The pool was nice. The only thing that seemed unnecessarily off, was the TV. It didn't have a guide, there were an absurd number of blank channels that were listed but had no content, and the remote didn't have numbers to type in channels, you could only scroll, but with not guide to see where you wanted to scroll too. I think it was supposed to connect to your phone or laptop for streaming, but we didn't try. We just turned it off and didn't really use it. Compared to how good everything else was, we didn't care the TV was less than user friendly, it was kind of a blessing to get annoyed with it, and turn it off early.

It is clear that they have put effort into remodeling the property recently, and everything from the lobby to the rooms looks very nice. The only reason I gave 3 stars is because the room was very musty and the AC didn't seem to ever pull that smell and humidity out.

Nice facility, clean and well kept. Room was very nice. Adequate storage and lighting. Room layout was nice and comfortable. Staff were friendly and offered great options for dinning. Breakfast had good options and a variety of choices. Orange juice station was not good. But the food was perfect.

The staff was amazing. Kind and accommodating. The room had a STRONG chemical smell of Pine Sol or other similar cleaner along with a mold and damp smell. There was a roach crawling across the entryway as I was steaming my dress for the event I was there for.

I wouldn’t recommend! The positive thing was they allowed me to check in early like 2:10 instead of 3pm. However, the door wouldn’t close to our room unless you lifted and slammed it shut. The fridge was leaking and needed defrosting, practically froze the food. The construction was done very poorly. Slow elevator for only 3 floors, sounded like a herd of cattle when walking around above us, and no phones in any of the rooms. Some staff were friendly other staff allowed us to walk by them Multiple times without saying a word. The breakfast had promise, however, it had labels for egg white omelets and turkey sausage and when looked in the bin it was empty. She said they were out of egg whites and didn’t have any turkey sausage! I was disappointed. Don’t eat beef/pork, or whole eggs. Overall, it was fine for staying only one night. Wouldn’t stay longer

Athens is not a large city and the hotel selection is accordingly limited. This Holiday Inn was one of the best choices.
