Staff is very friendly; their English is a little bit limited but good enough to make it work. You can rent bikes for a little cheaper than the rental places around the train station. They're not especially nice bikes, but they'll get the job done -- I managed to ride to Shikisai no Oka and Shirogane Blue Pond with it (about 40km round trip). Rooms are basic but comfortable. Request extra fee for our kid but provide no extra service. In total \~150USD per night for 2 adults and 1 kid without breakfast. Almost no room service during the stay except rubbish empty. Towel, teeth brush, and anything you may get for free from other hotels will charge at least 100JPY per time. This is the worst experience I've ever had on hotels.com.
