The owner was responsive to our questions, and we had great weather especially for January. The location was good as it was close to Santa Cruz and about a 40 minute drive to Monterey. It was so light and airy and I loved the original art. The sofa was comfy and long enough that i didn’t need to open it up. The property is attached to the owner house, but has completely independent entrance. Has a nice grill area attached to it which we did not get to enjoy, but can be an awesome place to hang around with family. The place was very clean, beds and sofa were in very good condition. I stayed here with my longtime best friend and her 10-year-old daughter over a three-day weekend. It was such a lovely experience. Not only was the place clean and cozy with a well-stocked, fully-equipped kitchen, our hosts were VERY kind and welcoming. The only “odd quirk” was the flimsy partition separating the main sleeping area from the bathroom in lieu of a door. We worked around this by agreeing to stay out of the bedroom whenever one of us needed a bathroom break, but it might have proven a bit awkward if we’d brought any guys along. ##### Gretchen W. The location was nice and the house it was attached to was beautiful. The place was overall clean & tidy but the pullout couch did have some stains but we weren’t really put off by that. The bathroom situation was a bit tricky due to it being divided by a partial pull out wall so you didn’t have complete privacy in the bathroom but again it didn’t bother us at all but for some that may be a deterrent. Overall we had a great stay and would absolutely book here again! The owners were extremely communicative & let us use their park & aquarium passes. ##### Amber W. One bedroom, very loved hide a bed in the living area. It’s clean and well appointed, and best of all they allow us to have our golden retriever stay. We enjoyed the proximity to the beach. Just a short little drive. Our dog got to run off leash at the beach, and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Manual’s Mexican restaurant, The price was very reasonable. Great location, quiet and secluded neighborhood. Aptos is right down the hill. Nicene Marks state park is walkable from here. Cottage is well-stocked and clean. We deployed the kids on the pull-out couch and floor and that worked well. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage, Joe is a great host. The cottage has a beautiful kitchen and the hosts thought of everything you'd need to make breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The main bedroom is a roomy full-size bed; the couch pulls out to a queen. On this trip, we visited a few state parks and the Monterey Bay Aquarium with passes generously provided by our hosts. The neighborhood is nice and quiet. The beach is walkable for a fitness walk, but it is too far a walk to carry everything you might have in your car for the day. ##### dr d. The owner was very easy to work with and helpful. It was great that they had aquarium and state park passes for people to use. The beach is about 1.4 miles away, downhill on the way there, so we chose to drive. It's a nice, quiet neighborhood. The house was clean. Our biggest complaint was the bed. While I know that bed firmness/softness is personal, this mattress just seemed older and neither of us slept well on it. The sheets were also scratchy.
