"As promised, we enjoyed an unbelievably quiet escape from the rest of the world, surrounded only by all the sights and sounds of the Saginaw Bay. Our visit to the little lighthouse was at the end of March, during the prime migratory season of thousands of birds. We spent our entire time watching the geese, ducks, cranes, gulls, swans, and the eagles. At one point, we observed 18 eagles gathered on a sandbar, all vying for someone's catch of the day. We definitely would recommend this time of year to all the bird lovers out there. Maybe we will come back and visit during the warmer months so that we can enjoy kayaking, fishing, and a bonfire on the bay. Side notes to consider: Our host was very friendly and accommodating. She texted us a couple of times and alerted us to some eagle sightings. If you are interested in experiencing tiny house living or minimalizing your life, this is definitely a place you should try! Be prepared to climb ladder steps, as there are no sleeping accommodations on the lower level. We would suggest planning your meals ahead of time, keeping in mind that due to the quaint size of the Lighthouse, it has a kitchenette with a sink, small refrigerator, microwave, toaster, electric skillet and Keurig. There is no stove, but there is a propane grill outside. We discovered a cute pub with good food called the Bayshore Bar that was about 2-3 miles west. "

"Staff was great. Place was clean. Problem was my room. Door had an inch gap in it toward the bottom. Very low water pressure, tub would not drain, no shampoo, conditioner or body wash. All bottles were completely empty. Shower head came off while showering. Toilet wouldn’t flush. I really feel it that our room was not ready to have us. So many things wrong. "

"Breakfast was good. The front desk staff did a great job. The room itself was a little shabby particularly the bathroom. Shower head was almost pulled out of the wall. Paint along the tub wall was peeling with what looked like mold showing underneath. I guess I’m still old-school enough to expect a higher level of service/accommodations for a hotel room I’m paying for. Looks like those days are gone. "

"At check-in, I asked if they had a top-floor or end unit room because I was a light sleeper. The desk clerk said, "I've got you in room 206, right in the middle" Pretty much exactly the opposite of what I'd just said. Across the hall was some loud gathering that I could hear inside my room with the door closed. Whoever was above me kept stomping around continuously until at least 10:30. I had the bathroom fan, air conditioner fan and TV on, and put on an 8-hour YouTube video of white noise through headphones under two pillows and eventually got to sleep. Slept in my sleeping bag on top of the bed."
