The staff was friendly. However, the room requires some attention. The cheaper single room is in the next building. The stairs are steep, making it difficult to carry luggage. The room only contains a single bed, desk, chair, mirror, and water space. Room is dark. The toilet and shower room are shared. It is a 10-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station. Great little gem in the middle of downtown Amsterdam. Staff was very friendly, rooms were older but very clean, felt safe. Breakfast was a nice bonus! We booked a standard double room on Hotels.com. When we arrived, we were told it had a shared hallway bathroom but were offered a room with an attached private bathroom for another 20 euros. We gladly took the offer but you should keep this in mind when booking (it does not say shared bathroom when you book rooms on Hotels.com). The staff is very helpful and friendly, and made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The hotel is clean, and towels were replaced daily. There are no private washrooms or showers so be aware if that's not your thing. You have to return the key to the reception every time you leave which can feel a bit strange but is a policy for security as they manually have to buzz you into the building each time. The stairs are very narrow and steep. If you have a heavy roller bag you will almost definitely have to leave it in their free luggage storage. The single room I had was... quaint but functional.bbeds were nice staff were exceptionally helpful and kind. The area is very centered.nitd 30 min walk to museum district and 10 mins to metro and maybe 5 for the bus. It's an excellent location.
