Thank you for your review. Our landscaping is underway now the summer has passed for an additional outdoor area of a deck to expand further the view of the ocean and the valley we are located in. This will add extra area plus with town water coming online soon we can at last expand the gardens which the wildlife will really enjoy as well. Both Telstra and Optus have good coverage of the Island but for those with the other carrier its best to download the maps from google before you visit or use our set of directions.

Thank you for your review. Most guests prefer the filtered rainwater rather than mains water with all its chemicals but there is still a slight difference in immediate pressure that takes a few seconds to develop. Just after you left we replaced an item of plumbing equipment that was just starting to fail to consistently keep pressure in the pipes. It was not doing it all the time as I would have noticed that but was spasmodic in occurrences. In the next 12 months our tiny town is connecting to mains water and we then will be able to water and thereby improve our gardens but also swap over to high pressure mains water for guests if they prefer that. Maintenance is a constant even with new buildings. Toasters just don't last like they used to and we replace them regularly with a store room of new spares.

Thank you for your review. Yes the internet did slow down but was quickly fixed by a restart. We have guests travelling the world and using the internet which works well even given we are a remote Island location yet only 100km from the mainland capital city.

Thank you for your review. We have been preparing the garden for summer and have dropped some of the overgrowth from a very wet winter but have been held up with Spring rains from a good cleanup. Its a big job to get ready for summer as we remove those natives that are highly combustible but keep the other natives that the birds and animals use for food and protection. Unfortunately with heavy rains continuing this has been delayed. The upside with what is here now is the wildlife absolutely love the garden as it is because it provides their natural habitat. The trees that look overgrown have berries that are actually the food source for the endangered Black Glossy and all the ramps and decks have cover for the goannas and echidnas and small skinks as well as smaller birds like the blue Wrens.

Thank you for staying with us and giving your thoughts in a review. It is a constant attention on the little things like utensils that helps make a holiday meal enjoyable. My neighbours that clean let me know what to provide in the kitchen as i am not the cook. I build the kitchens and lay them out as best i can to be easy to use. We have added extra cabinets for guests to put an esky, cereals, snacks and plates to serve up so tge new photos will show that. It looked to me like guests had woolies bags on the floor which i thought would annoy me so made the extra shelves and benches for every apartment.

Thank you. Our apartments are all larger than the norm for the Island. Your apartment was built to an architect design (my Daughter's) to easily accommodate mobility equipment such as wheelchairs and lifters, sky bridge, ramps and hand holds. Very proud of what we have achieved and your 5 out of 5 gives us a real sense of fulfilment so thank you.

Thank you for your review. On our website sunriseonfalie we provide suggested itineraries and suggestions for travels both to get to us and also around the Island. There are no taxis on the Island but many options for hire cars and tours.

The building has only just been completed so bathrooms, beds, TV, internet, kitchen, decks, linen, aircond, water systems, tanks, are all brand new and feedback is guiding us to the finishing touches. There is hanging space for guests built into the walls and minimal shelving atm. Re the smell ---- We did find a dead wallaby approx 40 metres away hidden by bushes on a neighbours land. Had you not just assumed it was from our washing machine water and told us we could have found it quickly. It is a strange thing that when wild wallabies become ill they sometimes tend to move toward humans /homes for some reason. That may have been the smell you detected on a warm, still night.

KAngaroo Island is about one third national park so its great to see Kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, and goannas, plus the bird life but they dont see a lot of cars so have no road sense. Kevin

Thank you for your kind words and your help re the shower. We run on rainwater which is great for washing and drinking but the pump needed to be changed to suit the Hot water service. It was a case of trying too hard to give a great shower without flow changes and we just reverted to an old tried and true system to fix it. Re the hanging spaces we have that setup now. Just a few things to get it just right as we have on the other apartment. Thank you for the feedback and thank you for explaining it to me when you were here so I could work out what was happening with the shower.

thank you for your feedback and yes the new penthouse apartment has spectacular views and it is huge in size. We have just completed the Apartment in August and it has been fully booked but the half price opening rates reflect we have a couple of landscaping tasks to complete plus the shower screens have now arrived so that is being attended to this week. I don't know how you thought the beds were only double size as they are brand new queen size beds. We have on our other apartment both a double and a queen size bed and checked the sizes just to be sure we got queen beds we ordered. We can confirm we definitely have queen beds in this apartment. This is what Jill tried to explain to you. We do have laundry facilities and actually do the washing for people. All feedback is good and this apartment will keep getting minor improvements now so all furniture and fittings can provide guests with a true home away from home experience in 6 star comfort .

Hi, Thank you for your review. We thoroughly researched your concerns looking at it from multiple views to see what we can do better, and what is perhaps a misunderstanding. It appears to me that the $10 item mentioned started your feeling of concern which then grew and unfortunately exploded into a list of grievances. I can assure you there are no fine print dollar 'catches' for guests and to be 100% sure that was still the case I re-checked the pricing with Hotels.com to see how their internet shows our pricing plus how our total price compares with other properties in the region. They clearly show a total $$ number before guests book the apartment. We are very well priced and actually you had a major last minute discount applied which none of our competitors offer. We definitely wash, check, and change all bed linen for each booking, We wash and dry it thoroughly for every new guest. We dry in the sun to get a double sanitising benefit of sun plus environment friendly cleaning fluids and accept that some wrinkles can be seen on bed sheets from the outside clothes line. We don't iron the sheets. We vacuum and mop the floors but being a dark jarrah floor and in your case 5 guests entering and exiting multiple times it would quickly gather dust from outside. Dust on blinds is a constant item to clean as we like to air the apartment as much as we can thoroughly after each stay. The shower arrangement we find many guests like as they have the option to enjoy a bath and it is a plus for children. The bathroom has NEW modern facilities, fully tiled, clean and spotless, heat lamps, air extraction, large mirror, hairdryer, modern soft close toilet etc which is way above what a 3star accommodation would have. The water temperature is controlled to avoid risk of scalding as per modern health and safety requirements. We have good secure grab rails and of course the pure Kangaroo island rainwater fully filtered and much better than any city water. The rating for a new property with expansive sea views, inside and outside private spaces, airconditioning and ceiling fans, new beds and linen, large screen flat TV and internet, full size well stocked kitchen and 6 star energy rating is one we will let guests make up their own mind about. Our view is it is way better than the 3 and 4 star properties we compete with though. We are in a remote country area and cleaning is a full time activity both inside and out. The fly screens get washed regularly so a couple of dead winged insects on the outside of the bathroom window screen is possible but they are NOT inside the property. Guests like the country location with animals on our doorstep but that is only made possible by having grounds that give them shelter, places to nest, soil to dig into and grass to eat. Its remote country and not offered as a manicured city pad. Animals walk the decks at night which is what we aim to encourage so don't use chemical sprays and manicured lawns. It is regretted that when I asked for your concerns you maybe felt unwilling to fully open up and state what your view was. Hopefully the above helps you now rest assured you did not sleep in unwashed sheets nor expose your guests to any unclean living conditions. Kevin Owner
