One of the most unique and wonderful stays I’ve had. Paula greeted my daughter and I like family and the rest of her team were seamless in assisting us and making us feel welcome. The property is a magical step back in time and the sound of the ocean repaired so many overstretched parts of me.

The hotel is located in a beautiful location, right on the beach with beautiful views of Capo Caccio and the Mediterranean. Our room was spacious with a terrace overlooking the ocean. The villa used to be a retreat for the Italian royalty. As such, ambience is a bit stilted, with staff trying to balance formality with friendliness.

Great place
Lovely place. Service excellent. Room a bit small but bathroom great. Gardens beautiful and spectacular views. Pool was sea water which I don’t like. Spa was €5 each to access which I thought seemed a bit mean on top of the room rate. Breakfast was very good though eggs etc was extra.

we didn't get what we expected
Poorly maintained, not comfortable and far overpriced for what you get. It was surprising that they charged us using the spa without informing us first that it was charged additionally. The personnel is very nice and friendly though. Breakfast was very poor and if you are not a dessert lover, you will be stuck with cheese and salami. If you want an omelet, you will be charged additionally. This is something I definitely never experienced in any other 5 star hotel.

With regards to the Spa extra cost, we are sorry about the misunderstanding, but the Spa (as many others) it's an hotel extra service which was not mentioned as an included service in your offer, and therefore subjected to an extra cost. Moreover, in all rooms we place an information sheet where the extra charge is mentioned, as well as on our website. We take this opportunity to inform our guests that the restaurant, for an ethical choice, is a vegetarian restaurant. For this reason, the hotel offers to all the guests an italian breakfast, which includes hot bevegares and a wide selection of fresh fruit, sweets and desserts, excluding meats and other derivatives. In spite of this, we have kept a selection of local cheeses and salami in order to meet the exigences of those guests who cannot, or don't want to, renounce to this variety of food. In addition, we would like to inform our guests that the menu placed on the breakfast tables every morning includes other salted options: some of them, such as the omelettes, have an extra cost, but many others, such as the fried eggs or other egg-based dishes, are on request but free of charge. Add Villa Las Tronas to your bucket list
We planned on spending one night in Alghero and booked Villa Las Tronas. The moment we walked into the room we decided we would spend all three nights we were planning to spend in Sardinia at this exquisite property! Villa Las Tronas has everything on its grounds to keep you happy and cozy-phenomenal dining, amazing salt water pool and sauna and steam room, massage, a small exercise room, private beach and an amazing staff that will make sure every need is taken care of. For example, the staff recommended the quickest transit back to France—hire a driver to take you to Santa Teresa, hop on the ferry to Bonifacio on Corsica, and a taxi up to Figari, then Air Corsica gets you back to the mainland quite economically (if you’ve got the Euros, take a helicopter to Santa Teresa—someday, I will!!). One more comment about the staff: they all had been there for a long time and gave us the impression they are treated very well by the owners. Each person had a vested interest in making sure every moment of our stay was worth it. A stay at Villa Las Tronas is a must do on anyone’s bucket list—you’ll be delighted for the experience!

Spoil yourself and stay here!
Villa Las Tronas combines old-world with tastefully updated conveniences. Service and food make this a top notch property. I’ve stayed in hotels in North America, Central America and Europe and Villa Las Tronas has been the best value for the Euro. We went into town one day and picked up several local goodies and enjoyed them with our balcony doors open. That is the first photo. The other photo is a great view of the hotel from the Mediterranean.

Beautiful old world hotel. Good room size in a great location. You can hear the street noise from the garden facing room as well as in the hallways. Service is top notch. Breakfast and dinner delicious. Overall wouldstay here again.

Great hotel
Stayed many times before and will again, great setting large grounds to a property with only 26 rooms so you can always find some space and solitude if that is what you want....the local area is great as are the people with some good beChes within a 20 mins walk, the old town has a good selection of restaurants with something for most tastes..... the hotel is not cheap but that suits me as it helps keep most of the riff raff out

A relaxing 2 weeks
We loved relaxing at this quiet hotel with wonderful sea views. It felt a privilege staying in this historical building only ten minutes walk from the centre of town. The staff were very friendly and we felt very much at home.

Lovely hotel in a great city!
Lovely luxury hotel with prices to match, close enough to the centre of Alghero but in a quiet area. A little quirky and a sea view room is a must. Dinner expensive and a little lonely as almost everybody are out. Not surprising as Alghero offers so many excellent restaurants.

Unique and special but a bit frayed
It could be deemed expensive but it depends what you are used to. Personally I think it is a bit pricey but if a few things were fixed it would be fine. The bathrooms need updating and the sun loungers and sun shades out side the room we're old and shonky. Paying for the spa and breakfast extras is ridiculous but I don't think the management are listening as many previous reviews have covered it. Breakfast needs to be upgraded it's not 5 star. The general impression is of a great hotel, underinvested and management in the 80s. Don't expect it to change. Great location peaceful and very good staff - build on it please.

Beautiful villa with breathtaking views
My husband and I stayed at Villa Las Tronas for 9 days during our honeymoon. Upon our arrival, we were greeted with a warm welcome and the staff went above and beyond during our stay. Moreover, the restaurant dishes were delicious and we enjoyed complimentary breakfast, overlooking the beautiful Mediterranean Sea every morning (included for all guests). Location was perfect, as it was a 5-10 minute walk to the charming town of Alghero. Overall, beautiful grounds, clean rooms (turnover service offered twice a day) and good security (guests had to be buzzed in at the front gate). Would highly recommend Villa Las Tronas!

Tranquil charm
Wonderfully located on its own promontory, with uninterrupted sea views, Villa Las Tronas is a great place if you want a calm retreat, but within easy walking distance of Alghero - and with interesting and varied places nearby.

Old and very quaint hotel set atop the headland looking back at Alghero. Great pool area and easy access to ocean swimming. Staff extremely attentive to everything. This is a wonderful hotel with excellent staff however for over 430 euros per night I expect a little more in the way of "up to date amenities" The shabby chic look should not be an excuse for charging a premium without investing in modernization. The room was clean but basic, the bathroom was clean but the shower was very small and was integrated into a very small bath. The showerhead was attached to the taps and you had to shower side ways on leaving not much room for anyone of above average size. I am 6ft and weigh 14 stone - this was a squeeze. There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room - come on guys this is the 21st century! My summary is that for the money it’s not great with an average breakfast to boot. The location is fabulous and we had a truly fantastic holiday but this hotel needs to think about the future.

One of my Favorite Hotels in the World
Am planning a wedding in Alghero in August, and went there solo to put together the agenda/finalize everything. Have stayed at Villa Las Tronas before and the service is second to none. Beautiful views - it's a historical building but kept in great shape. Walk to the harbor, walk to old town --- just perfect.

The "small castle" hotel is the best in town and ideally placed on a spit surrounded by water . The gardens are excellent and the staff are all skilled and friendly. The hotel is ideally placed to walk to restaurants and the Old Town.

Fantastic Hotel
Beautiful hotel, set in beautiful grounds with incredible views of the sunset. Staff were all very friendly and helpful with everything we needed (booking restaurants, bus timetables, ordering taxis etc). Also the food in the restaurant was some of the best we had during our stay - and they do a daily 4 course menu for 25 Euros - incredible value. Eating meals on the terrace with the lovely view over the pool and the sea was one of the best parts of our trip. The worst thing I can say is that the shower kept running hot and cold, but it really didnt matter too much (neither scalding or freezing). The room was spacious as was the bathroom and they provide beach towels which are changed daily. Its about a half mile walk to the old town, past lots of stalls in the evening which were nice to browse. There's access to the sea from the hotel, via the rock platforms and you can also borrow snorkell and flippers from the pool area. If you want sandy beach, there's a free beach about 2 mins walk from the hotel or for the sunbeds and parasols it's about a mile walk along the seafront.

Great location and view. Short walk into the old town. Not all the staff members are great with italian but they all try very hard to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. We loved our time at the hotel and in the wonderful town of Algehro

Hotel and staff were great and very helpful. Spoiled a little by the Owners/ Managers?? seemingly shouting at the staff while trying to enjoy the quiet of the spa on one occasion. Spa facilities are superb salt pool was great except if you had an open cut and then it stung a little. Sauna and Hamam brilliant. Breakfast were well presented and more than enough food to keep you going. You eat inside or out overlooking the sea We did not eat here but I understand prices are competitive Rooms are great with lots of old furniture still around in the rooms and hallways.

Lovely hotel on promontory close to Alghero town.
Lovely Hotel. Great position near town & easy to walk or cycle into Alghero town. Good facilities but its a period hotel so rooms are not all the same- some not really 5 *. Nice Spa but if you like a sports massage make sure your clear about it. They can call in a specialist. Expect great service. Staff are very good.

A luxury hotel by the sea.
This is one of the friendliest, nicest hotels we have stayed in. We were made to feel welcome and at home from the moment we arrived. The location is idyllic; the hotel is set in beautiful well kept grounds over looking the sea and a short walk away from the old town. I think that the staff require a special mention - every member of staff we came into contact with were pleasant, helpful and friendly - service always with a smile.
