Pocket Guide: Przymorze Alfa Centrum Hotels

If you’re in the mood to shop, head north west of the Gdansks main town to Alfa Centrum. This massive shopping mall also has a cinema multiplex.

Visiting Alfa Centrum

Spread over five levels – including two for parking – Alfa Centrum has more than 80 shops selling international and local brands of clothing, gadgets and sporting goods. You won’t go hungry in the Alfa Centrum food court, where you can choose from cafes selling pizza, pasta and Middle Eastern cuisine as well as an ice-cream cafe, a coffee shop and a salad and cocktail bar. You’ll also find a selection of food and wine shops, as well as a supermarket.

If you’ve got energy to burn, have a go on the climbing wall. Or for a more sedate experience, there’s also the Helios cinema, which features eight air-conditioned cinema screens. Afterwards, stop for a drink in the bar and have a look at the permanent photographic exhibition in the cinema.

The districts surrounding Alfa Centrum have a wide selection of three- and four-star apartment hotels, which is great if you’re in Gdansk on a budget. Less than a mile from Alfa Centrum, you could also stay in a hostel or choose for an internationally known three-star hotel brand.

As Alfa Centrum is close to the commuter train station, it’s easy to broaden your range of accommodation by choosing a hotel or an apartment in the seaside resort of Sopot.

What to See near Alfa Centrum

Alfa Centrum is in the district of Przymorze, which is about a 15-minute walk from Gdansk University and about five miles from the Gdansk main town. And it’s only about a mile from the long sandy beach that runs from Brzezno to the seaside resort of Sopot.

Bordering the beach at Brzezno is the huge President Ronald Reagan Park, which is a relaxing place to stroll and cycle through the wooded paths.

Nearby is the attractive district of Oliwa, which is home to Zoo Gdansk. It’s one of the largest zoos in Poland and also includes an activity centre with a challenging rope course as well as a children’s petting zoo.
