OAK COTTAGE - Lakefront on Thayer Lake in Alden, MI with WiFi, AC

"The cottage was exceptionally clean and was an adorable log cabin on the inside, including all the furniture. There were cottages on both sides of the Oak Cottage close enough but the other visitors were respectful of each other’s privacy. The only thing that I’d question is for such a beautiful cottage/cabin, there were a number of cabinet doors, bedroom door, and oven door that did not line up. This is a craftsmanship error and should have been corrected before welcoming guests. The oven door bumps the trim on the bathroom outside, wood trim so the oven door doesn’t open all the way making it difficult to use and clean. I still rated it as excellent with 5 stars because our 2 days there was wonderful but these doors and cabinets should be adjusted. Someone not as neat as our family can easily cause damage to the beautiful wood interior and it wouldn’t be their fault. I would love to stay here again though."

"Great place for 3-4 people or a small family. Very clean, great location - close to restaurants, coffee, the beach - and nice having laundry and a kitchen. Was able to bring my dog for a $55 fee, which was worth it. Only down side is parking, though there is an overnight garage a block down, $25/day. Would stay again!"

"Absolutely incredible location with a modern, new ‘cabin’…ice cold A/C!Thayer Lake access on property allowed for kayaking in easy water. There’s a Torch Lake beach about 3 minutes away for swimming etc. We enjoyed The Muffin Tin in Alden!The owners were great to communicate with and work with. The in-unit ductless washer/dryer was a huge plus for me. The water is a little hard so plan accordingly if not used to it. I personally slept on the queen. It’s a little too plush for my preference, I would prefer a concrete slab if you know what I mean. Again, plan accordingly.Overall it was a great experience and we will be back!"
