Palmera Camp Wadi Rum

10/10 Excellent

"An oasis in the desert. Literally. The most fabulous tented room in the middle of the red sands of the Arabian desert. A once in a lifetime experience. Go for the thrill of visiting wadi rum but stay for the food, the pool, the nighttime bar under a million stars. Simply amazing. One day isn’t enough!"

Hasan Zawaideh Camp

8/10 Good

"This was a solid stay - just not what I was expecting. Two reasons - -the pictures on the site make it seem expansive…. That wasn’t my experience. It’s tucked next to a mountain with other properties right up against it, and off a busy road. I did the deluxe tent - it said desert views and the picture on the site was a lovely. My view was out to a courtyard tightly packed in other tents… not the expansive vibe I was expecting. Not bad, just not what I expected. (I think the front 12 bubble tents are the only ones with expansive desert views) -and it’s bigger than I realized - my bad for not researching better. Both nights I was there, buses of people arrived an hour or two before dinner. So the calm environment I was after all of a sudden changed to lining up with 100+ hunger travelers. As a solo traveler that likes chill vibes, this wasn’t what I was looking for. Yet —- solid. Food was good. Sweet cats on the property. Very kind staff. Comfortable room / bed / amenities."

Wadi Rum Bubble Luxotel - Campsite

10/10 Excellent

"Great place to stay in wadi rum, the view across the desert for the sunset is amazing. All the staff are amazing and can't do enough to make your stay perfect. The food is fantastic, also definitely make sure you take the star gazing experience it's absolutely amazing!"

Wild Oryx Camp Bubbles

10/10 Excellent

"The host and his nephews were beyond accommodating. There are many options in Wadi Rum but I highly recommend this camp. They are the nicest hosts, the food was good and you had everything you could not imagine you would have in an actual desert. Ac, hot water, full bathrooms. Definitely do the jeep tour with the nephews and the camel ride!!"

Hasan Zawaideh Luxury Camp 2

10/10 Excellent

"I had such a great stay at this camp in Wadi Rum. The location was beautiful, the atmosphere was peaceful, and everyone was incredibly welcoming. The food was delicious, and spending the evening under the stars was honestly one of the highlights of our trip to Jordan. Everything felt well organized but still authentic and relaxed. Would definitely recommend staying here if you’re visiting Wadi Rum!"

Wadi rum Aviva camp

10/10 Excellent

"We are from the United States and everything at this camp was great. The four hour tour in the truck of Wadi Rum was outstanding and particularly great was the Kamel tour we took at sunrise in the morning what a blessing. All five of us had our own camels and there were three baby camels along in our caravan and we just loved it. Food was also very good and the people were very friendly. The off road truck was a little rough but the views and off road ride was part of the wonderful experience. I also liked the private nature of the camp well into the park and not near modern roads."

Rose rum camp

8/10 Good

"Service was phenomenal. They offer activities and dinner through the hotel. Mohammed was our driver for the jeep tour and he was super friendly and funny. Hussan was very welcoming and helpful. Overall an amazing place to stay with friendly staff. Rooms weren’t as clean as they could have been , but it was still spectacular with great views. "

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Al-Quwayrah?

The best area to stay in Al-Quwayrah is the immediate vicinity of the Wadi Rum Protected Area entrance, as this is where most tour operators and desert camps are located.

This area serves as the gateway to the stunning desert landscape of Wadi Rum. While not a town in the traditional sense, it's a collection of visitor centres, guesthouses, and meeting points for desert excursions. You'll find yourself surrounded by the dramatic desert scenery, with the iconic red sand dunes and towering sandstone mountains visible from your accommodation. It's primarily a base for exploring the protected area.

Couples looking for a unique and memorable experience will find staying in a desert camp within the protected area itself to be an exceptional choice. These camps, ranging from traditional Bedouin tents to more luxurious glamping options, offer stargazing opportunities, traditional meals, and guided jeep tours or camel treks into the heart of Wadi Rum. It's an intimate way to connect with the natural beauty of the region.

Solo travellers will also appreciate the communal aspect of many desert camps. They provide a relaxed environment to meet other travellers and share experiences, often centred around evening meals and campfires.

When is the best time to go to Al-Quwayrah?

The best time to go to Al-Quwayrah is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) months.

During these periods, the weather is pleasantly warm and sunny, making it ideal for exploring the desert landscapes of Wadi Rum, which is a short drive from Al-Quwayrah. Temperatures are comfortable for activities like jeep tours, camel treks, and stargazing, without the intense heat of summer or the cooler evenings of winter.

Couples looking for a romantic desert getaway will find these months particularly appealing. The clear skies at night offer spectacular opportunities for stargazing, and the mild daytime temperatures are superb for enjoying the serene beauty of the desert together.

Solo travellers who enjoy outdoor adventures will also appreciate the spring and autumn.
