Abersoch

Abersochis a bustling seaside resort, which nestles on the south coast of the LlleynPeninsula in NorthWales. It takes its name from Afon Soch, the river that meets the seaat the edge of the town. Once a small fishing port, Abersochhas been transformed into a centre for water sports, ideal for action-packedadventures but just as popular with families who enjoy beach holidays.

For anyone looking for a more traditional stay away, far from the clamour of city life, Abersoch is set in a beautiful corner of Wales, blessed with a pleasant climate and plenty to do in every season of the year.

Enjoy, too, the sound of the Welsh language, because most of the locals speak it.

Staying in AbersochWhatever your budget or accommodation requirements, Abersochhas something to offer. It has a number of hotels, many guesthouses and B&Bs, as well as self-catering properties, caravan and campsites.

For food shopping, Abersoch has two well-provided convenience stores. Apart from that, there are numerous water-sport equipment and leisurewear shops, as well as quirky gift shops for your souvenir needs.

Eating Out in AbersochDon't be fooled into thinking that because Abersoch is out-of-the-way, there will only be local food in the eateries. Many national cuisines are also represented in the hotels, bars and restaurants – Thai, Mexican, Indian and Italian, for example, as well as British favourites.

Fish and chips are readily available as well as all-day breakfasts, morning coffee, cakes and afternoon teas in quaint cafés. There are a number of takeaway options too.

Outdoor Pursuits in AbersochAbersochis a haven for water-sport enthusiasts, from simple sea bathing and diving to waterskiing and wakeboarding on the calm, sheltered waters of AbersochBay. Each year in July the town hosts Wakestock, a combined music and wakeboarding festival.

Other beaches nearby benefit from the full force of the Atlantic, making conditions wonderful for surfing and bodysurfing.

If you prefer to be on the water rather than in it, there are jet skis, dinghies and powerboats. Local sea fishing is renowned and there is also a well-stocked trout lake for fly-fishing.

On land, there is an 18-hole golf course, horse riding, shooting and archery.

The Natural Beauty of AbersochThe coastline around Abersoch consists of miles of sandy beaches punctuated by rocky sea cliffs. The main beach is safe for bathing with no strong currents and has spectacular views of the mountains of west Wales and St. Tudwal's Islands. Dolphins and seals swim in the bay and there is an abundance of wildlife, both flora and fauna, to be seen wherever you go.

Abersoch:Year-Round Enjoyment In the summer months, Abersoch is a popular holiday resort for young and old, families, outdoor thrill-seekers and nature lovers.

However, with a mild microclimate and sheltered suntraps, Abersochis a great destination no matter which season you choose, with many shops and restaurants open throughout the year.
