    Lovely Friendly French Village…

    The village itself is unpretentious, really lovely local feel. The cafes are friendly and welcoming as are the several bar/restaurants. The Hotel St Hubert has a very French bar and a restaurant that opens out onto a fantastic view over the valley and hills of the Luberon. Lovely at all times of the day. Local market is certainly worth a look. If you go canoeing, go for the company higher up the river. Remember the sun tan lotion and water to drink.! The river is crystal clear. We did not go further afield because of the heat. 40C and above. This gave rise to problems with the villa..No acclimatisation! There was a fan in the downstairs bedroom but upstairs nothing. We slept fitfully because of the heat. I lay on the tiles at 2a.m. to try and cool, and then had to have a cold shower in order to lower my temperature. We have lived in France, right down south and do not mind heat but at the end of the day you need to be able to get out of the heat and cool down...and sleep. We appreciate that the heat was excessive this year (le canicule), and this seems to be the trend, but even in the 30's More fans ( ventilateurs) needed. M. Patrick was delightful and could not help enough. Patience personified. All swimming pools in France are supposed, by law, to have alarms. Many people do not do this, as they can be a pain. We did not have one at the vlla so OK. I would not have one myself! But we were surprised to be asked to sign a waiver saying the pool was entirely our responsibility even if someone climbed over the wall and fell in. We were fine with that as Patrick showed us how to cover the pool which was then "fall in proof". We had to cover it every time we went out but this was no great task. Just had to remember. Some may not be happy with that "surprise" and then what do you do. Otherwise the villa is a delight, the verandah wonderful and the table tennis table a great hit with my grandson, as was the pool, and Patrick gracious. Also need to have a villa number, 306, on the entrance . We went up 2 other people's drives before we phoned Patrick and he came to our aid. We were close! We would happily go there again as long as there were fans in every bedroom. …

    Villa Les Cigales is a beautiful, tranquil oasis. From the beautiful gardens to the stunningly relaxing pool, this holiday Home can’t fail to fulfill all expectations. The villa itself is a home from home, furnished and decorated to a high standard with a kitchen stocked with an abundance of glassware and crockery. The owners, Annick and Christian are extremely friendly and helpful and despite the language barrier managed to provide us with many hints and tips of the local area. It is ideally situated to explore the many stunning Provençal towns and villages, and the market town of Apt with its many shops and restaurants. We do hope to return one day in the not so distant future.…
