"I stayed in Garden Cottage, which is next to the main house. It was very peaceful with a beautiful garden, where I enjoyed sitting in the sunshine. There's a feeling of history to the estate and I enjoyed reading about some of the previous occupants, such as the painter Joseph Farquharson. The cottage itself is tastefully decorated with period furniture but with the benefit of TV and wifi. I could have happily stayed several more days and explored the area. "Convenient to where we needed to be. Spacious carpark. Didn,t use the Restaurant though the presentation appeared good. Would stay again without a doubt."

"We were amazed at the level of cleanliness in the lodge. All three bathrooms were spotless, and appeared to have been fairly recently upgraded. The beds were probably the comfiest we have ever slept on. The open plan lounge, kitchen, dining area was huge and although the furniture is perhaps a little dated, it was nevertheless very well looked after and in good condition. The kitchen units could perhaps do with being replaced in the next year or two but again have been well looked after, and were very clean; however the oven, microwave and hob have obviously been replaced fairly recently and again were spotless (which is so often not the case in a rental property). There were also 2 allocated parking spaces outside the lodge. Ballater village is a 20 minute walk away, and has a nice mix of cafes and a few shops. We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend and would not hesitate to return to Craigendarroch again."

"It is a big hotel, but on our visit there were very few guests staying, and it was very quiet. The staff were friendly and efficient. The grounds are lovely, with grassy lawns and well-kept borders, but sadly, the view from our room was of a stone wall and some tatty looking sheds. The room was large and clean, and the bed was comfortable. However, the room was in need of some refurbishment. Breakfast was cooked to order."
