"Fab location right in the centre of York, the place has lots of character and beautiful grounds. The room was very quiet and private. Staff very friendly and breakfast was excellent. Just let down a little by our check in experience (waited 15 minutes before member of staff arrived) also blinds in room let in lots of light so we were awake around 6am. All in all a lovely stay and would happily return "

"If you are looking to explore York and need a base for a couple of nights then look no further than The Burton Stone Inn. A family business with wonderful hosts. Ample parking, clean and tidy room with decent shower. A very good hearty breakfast to prepare you for your 10 minute easy stroll into the city. We have two children 5 and 9 and they had no problem with the walk back having spent all day walking around the city including the city walls. Yes, the bar does close at 8, however there are...

"We were welcomed by very friendly staff, informative and polite. The evening meal was good and we had a comfortable room. We had asked ahead for a quiet room and it was nicely tucked away so very peaceful. My only negative feedback would be that the bedding was beginning to look rather tired and a little slack on the cleaning but would definitely stay again."

"The hotel is perfectly located in a little street in the city centre. Easy to get to and from and 10 min walking from the train station. It is surrounded by little shops and restaurants. The room is a good size. The bed and pillows are OK and the bathroom is a good size as well. Breakfast is included and really nice. Everyone is very attentive and eager to help. "

The rooms were clean and they added a note on the mirror as we was away for my Girlfriend’s birthday wishing her a happy birthday which we thought was a great touch. The grab and go section was perfect with free pot noodles and crisps and drinks to take to the room. 100% will come again"

"The hotel is wonderfully located in a beautiful old building. The bar area is very comfortably and the rooms are nice and bright, having had a refurb in the recent past. The staff are hit and miss, some are absolutely lovely, caring and helpful, others treat you like you’re in the way, which is a shame. The rooms have an iron and ironing board, kettle and basic toiletries."
