last minute reservations, shoulda gone to a campsi

Posted 18-Dec-2014
Pros: Leaving
Cons: everything
Location: not applicable
I was working out of town , so decided to stay overnight instead driving home . I did not have a lot of choices as this was a last minute decision . Pool was ice cold. Jacuzzi / spa was cold. " Breakfast" was a meager offering of coffee , mini cupcakes and some watery Tampico orange beverage. The hot water for the shower took so long to warm up , I almost gave up. Room... carpet was old, paint was tired, bed was so -so. While sleeping , the room was on the cold side .... not sure if there was a heater or thermostat available , so I simply put up. Next time I will camp at Point Mugu , at least I will know what to expect.

Dirty carpets and Tub

Posted 09-Sep-2014 on Hotels.com
This hotel needs a major remodel. It was the closing thing to where we were visiting but was almost unbelievable the amount of stains all over the carpets and the bathtub was so gross, i didn't want to shower in it. Looked nice from the outside. The mexican restaurant next door though was excellent.

Not as described or expected

Posted 19-Aug-2014 on Hotels.com
We arrived very late in the evening from the east coast. When we entered the hotel, it smelled old and dusty. Our room was on the second floor - no elevator, so after an exhausting day of travel, we hauled all of our luggage up the staircase. The room smelled old and dusty as well. There were two of us as stated when making the reservation, but only one bath towel. We called the front desk and they immediately brought more up. They advertised a breakfast and while I did not expect more than a continental style, it was less than that.

Over priced

The Ocean Gateway is way over priced for what you get. Its a run down old & not very clean place. They offer free breakfast but its so not worth! Coffee was cold and the orange juice was just gross.

Pleasantly pleased

Posted 29-Jul-2014 on Hotels.com
I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was considering it is a 1-2 start hotel. It had a nice continental breakfast with real danishes instead of packaged stuff. This hotel was out of the way since I was working in Santa Barbara, but it was the only thing available at the last minute on a Friday. The hotel is conveniently located by the freeway. The only drawback to this hotel would be that there is no elevator if you require such an amenity.
