“Too noisy”

Generally was ok for a single person but not families. The bar was right beneath our room and people would make a racket. Plus no non smoking areas.

“Lumpy bed”

We didn't really give this hotel a fair shake since we got there late at night -- too late to see any of the hotel but our room, and left before the sun rose. We picked it because it was convenient to the airport, which it was -- a 10 dinar taxi ride. The night staff was sweet and greeted us with delicious juice. Our room was fine, but my husband's bed was lumpy. The morning staff was grumpy, but it was rather early so maybe we were just confused at that hour. So our experience wasn't great, but I wouldn't rule the hotel out based on that.

Area recommendations
I described our visit to Tunis in my review of the wonderful El Khan Hotel in the Medina. We just stayed in the Hotel du Parc the night before our flight left to come home since it was relatively close to the airport and we had a late night arrival from Libya and an early flight out to Rome.

“Paris, je t`aime!”

It was my first time visiting Paris so I wasn`t too sure just how close our hotel was to everything. We were in walking distance to everything! Wonderful location to get the metro as well (stop right in front of the Hotel). Also it`s right next to a Super market which was nice to buy little things for snacks. The room was very clean and always done up for us.Didn`t eat breakfast at the hotel but there is a nice list of what to eat for 7 Euros. We have already recommended this place to friends since we were that satisfied and will probably go back next time. Just take in mind that the rooms are small and bathrooms as well but still very much able to move around.

Must see
We did a couple of walking tours but there is also a bike tour. I would highly recommend it to everyone since you see so much more of Paris. It`s a very pleasant circuit and the guides are very knowledgable.

“Enjoyed the stay.”

Friendly and helpful staff. Found the bar a bit too smokey - but great service. Short walk to the Madina, St. Vincent de Paul church and the downtowwn core.

“Good Hotel, Convenient Location, Great Package Price”

This hotel is located about 2 miles from downtown Tunis, restaurants, nightlife, and old ville bazaars. In the heat of July however, it might seem like 4 miles, however a taxi is only 5-6 TD. Since it is on the outskirts of town, it is not a place to walk in the evening. The hotel is gated and guarded, has an outdoor patio with huge umbrellas for shade, and serves a tasty varied breakfast included in the price. It is light, bright, airy, attractively decorated, full of marble, next door to a soccer field as Du Parc is a local soccer sponsor. Cleanliness of rooms were maintained and tidied daily, comfortable lobby and hotel bar. Front desk staff both friendly and helpful, and room service efficient. My one drawback is the absence of lifts. We were on the third floor and we had to walk up several times daily. Still, I was impressed with both the hotel and services.

Traveller's tip
Always ask taxis their charge "before" getting into the cab. There are more than just a few unscrupulous, intimidating taxi drivers. Getting to Du Parc Hotel should cost 5-6TD from the airport, however if you are not aware they insist that the meter fare is per person, doubling the fare and tripling it, claiming it is a baggage cost. Just go inside and get the front desk staff before paying if this occurs.

“Very Impressed”

The hotel is nicely located in a quiet area and about 2 Km away from the City Center and the old Madinah. Easy and inexpensive transportation to Train, Metro and Bus terminals. The hotel provides excellent breakfast (except for the juices). Hotel Personnel spoke Arabic, English and French and very cheerful and helpful.

“just about okay as a base”

Everything about this hotel, and especially our room, was satisfactory but slightly shabby. On the other hand, the staff were all friendly and helpful. Fortunately we were only using it as a base to explore the surrounding area, for which it served its purpose.

Traveller's tip
Always, always, always ask the price of anything beforehand, not only at the medina but also in any cafe, restaurant or taxi. Check a recent travel guide for reasonable prices to pay for a coffee, taxi etc., or you may get taken for a ride.

“I was expected more”

We spent 4 nights at Hotel du Parc. The room was modest but clean. The main problem with this hotel is the location. We walked to the city centre once, and it took us way too long (about 40 minutes) - and it was not a nice walk! So, we then decided to take taxis to move around, and it was always a struggle to explain to the taxi driver where the hotel was, as it is not a well known hotel. If we decided to go back to Tunis, we would probably stay somewhere closer to the city centre, and we would not spend 4 nights in Tunis.

“Great Staff, Great Service”

My last stay in Tunis 7 weeks earlier was in a 5 star hotel, so I was concerned that I would be disappointed with this hotel, but nothing could be further than the truth! The staff were excellent, pleasant, helpful and efficient. I arrived 1 hour before check-in, and was told that my single room was not ready (which was what I expected to hear), so they offered me a suite with no extra charge! What a great start. The restaurant food and service were both excellent, and the portions were generous and fairly priced. Room service was also very fast, having received my order 15 minutes after calling. I also called for an extra bath towel shortly after my arrival, and it was at my door within 10 minutes. There was always at least one English speaking staff member at the reception desk. This hotel seemed to be a favorite for fellow Tunisians and soccer players (soccer field next door), and I was most definitely the only American there, yet I felt completely safe and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place.
