“Good location and not very expensive for downtown hotel”
Alot of bars and night clubs in walking distance. And very close to the financial district.
“good location”
very good location, room was small, but we used it only to sleep in so it was perfect for us!
“this isn't even a hotel, it's a hostel”
I don't even know where to begin, do not stay here, it's a dirty smelly college dorm converted into a cheap hostel motel, its horrible, heed my warning

“cheap but bad experience”
This hotel may be one of the cheapest hotels of downtown Toronto but I and my wife stayed 2 nights there and did not like it. Hotel is not in a very safe neighbourhood, room was dirty, furnitures were very old, airconditioninig device was not working properly. We can not recommend this hotel.
“Room smelled really bad”
The room smelled very very badly like cigarette smoke. It was very hard to sleep with that strong odor. Besides the dirty carpet (but I assume it is quite normal in an old hotel room), everything else was clean. The location is not amazing and the street is quite scary at night. It is clearly a cheap hotel and you get what you pay for. The free wireless internet was a great plus.
“Good deal if you don`t mind walking or taking a taxi to the downtown area.”
My experience at this hotel was exactly as expected: a frugal but safe and reasonably-priced location in a `real` neighbourhood where most of the residents are young and real estate is not as expensive as in other areas of the city. In the summer, the walk to the main downtown core is pleasant, in the winter it may be a different story...
“It's more like a college dorm building than a hotel”
I was shocked to see a stove in the room when I entered...and there's a laundry room every floor... enough said. The fridge in the room is also quite noisy.
“Great location, fair value if not in room much”
Friendly staff, very small rooms, OK cleanliness. Nice to have fridge & kitchenette. Best part was high-speed internet (when it worked) and great central location (easy walking distance to Rogers Centre).
“Great Hotel for the Price - Would Go Again Any Time!”
We stayed here for the evening of the U2 concert and were very happy. It was easy to find on the map. The hotel staff were helpful. Cabs were easy to get to. The room was clean and comfortable with a double and single bed and a fridge and cooktop. We walked back to the hotel from the Rogers Center (I was in 3 1/2" heels) after the show, so it is very accessible to all the attractions. It included free parking that is right at the hotel too. If you are looking for bell boys, jacuzzi tubs, king size beds with fancy linens, then you will have to pay $450+ for the Royal York. If you are looking for clean, comfortable and convenient then this is the hotel for you. We will definately stay here again if we have another event/trip in downtown Toronto.
