A pleasant boutique style hotel. Staff were very helpful and polite but unfortunately it was clear they had not been properly trained in table service and wine pouring.
Apparently they have a temporary manager at present and it is clear they need an experienced and enthusiastic professional to maximise its potential.
I needed somewhere to stay and picked it out of luck because I was attending my friends wedding at the castle nearby, very friendly staff very clean room, Tarporley is a lovely place with this hotel being in a ideal location.
The pictures of this hotel make it look lovely however the experience is completely different. I checked in on Friday evening. No one on reception. The chef instructed a young girl to show me to my room. No instruction on WiFi password or breakfast. The next morning there was no access to the restaurant & no chef or staff therefore no breakfast. I had to go to a bakery in the village to get some breakfast.
When I returned to my room later in the day, there had been no room service - the bed hadn't been made, the bathroom hadn't been cleaned, dirty cups had been left. When I asked to speak to the manager I was told there was no manager. I asked about breakfast the next day & the chef said he would come in & make me some
On further inspection of the room, the bedding was dirty & the bathroom floor had urine by the side of the toilet. I was really looking forward to staying here however I wouldn't return nor would I recommend this to anyone else. Apparently this establishment is owned by The Hollies so I would of expected a much higher standard.
