This was something different! When we wanted to take a shower, we found out that there aren't any western style showers around, everything is communal! We were a little apprehensive at first (being naked around others), but no one cares, no one will look at you. The idea is that you're a guest at the sauna with a sleepover (capsule). You'll be requested to walk around in their attire (robes), and you'll have free use of the sauna facilities, which is great. There's a hot & cold pool, as well as a sauna. What is irritating is the procedure you have to go through when going out/coming in. At arrival, take off your shoes after leaving the elevator to the 4th floor. Go to the desk, check in (some staff don't speak english though), and you'll have to place your shoes in the shoes locker. After that, you'll be handed the luggage locker key (they're small, you may have to place any suit cases in the locker area).
Each time you go out, you'll have to hand in your locker key, and you'll be given a piece of paper on which is written your locker number. When coming back, you have to hand them the piece of paper, you'll be given the locker key, and you'll have to change to the sauna robes...
The place has a late 70s, early 80s feel to it, which I thought was great. The capsules are OK to sleep in.Do bring your ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. They don't have a lock! So keep your valuables in the locker.
stayed on 19th May 2014 with a friend for 70usd/night, 1min walk to exit 2 tawaramachi station on ginza line (G17), reasonable space of room for japan standard, clean room, excellent power shower, very comfy pillow and mattress. they kept our luggage after check out. 10-15min walk to sensoji temple Receptionist very helpful & try their best to make us understand their english. will come back to this hotel for next japan trip. Highly recommended
First I booked for one night as I wasn't sure what to expect, but ended up staying my 4 nights!
Rooms with 2 beds are very spacious, one bed no so much but if u are not planning to stay at room during the day it's perfect to sleep and rest and with enough space for our two suitcases! Breakfast is included with veggie option available! Staff very friendly and polite as all japanese, they only speak a little English but u don't really need more. WILL TOTALLY RECOMEND IT! very good location if u coming from Narita and 5 min walking from ueno jr station to hotel! If coming from Narita ks line maybe 8 or 10 min! Good comunication with metro to go everywhere and within walking distance of commercial area, restaurants, shops and sightseeing,
"Good location for metro service and local shopping"
Great location, room is perfect, slightly small when getting suitcase in and out of room, but as you only do this once in and once out not a problem. Staff speak enough English to understand what is being said. Breakfast was good. Initially when you go into bathroom looks a bit like your in a caravan, however looks are deceiving, toilet was great with bidet etc, the shower was one of the best I have ever experienced, overall bathroom very suitable. Would recommend this hotel.

It was our last hotel and in my opinion it was the best out of all, plus the cheapest! Even though the space is the smallest among all. The room is clean, front counter tried to help out as much as possible and facilities provided are just what we need. The semi-double bed for two people and the small space might be the only downside for it, and it's really just about 5 minutes walk from the Asakusabashi station and directly next to the hotel is Lawson, you don't have to worry bout getting hungry at all. It was a pleasant stay for us.
Two night stay in Tokyo. Fabulous base for shopping, dining and sightseeing. Take the waterbus river cruise to enjoy a different view of the city, or hop the metro line to anywhere. This hotel meets all our expectations for a Dormy Inn - an affordable hotel chain with good perks. We really enjoyed the rooftop footbath!

The staff at Mitsui-Garden Ueno were a pleasure to work with and extremely courteous.
The room was well laid out for the size.
The hotel is very easy to get to because upon arrival at Ueno station, exit the main entrance and look left.
Ueno park is within a 15 minute walk and so is the shopping district.
Wish I had more time to explore the surrounding areas.
