"Wonderful surprise!"
Wow. For the price and the images on the site, I expected the average business hotel, but I was delighted to find lots of little surprises! The room, although small for US standards, was a decent size for a budget hotel in Tokyo, and had a large, very comfortable bed. The bathroom had a soaking tub, as well as shower, and there was a "kitchen" area with a fridge, sink and shelves for toiletries or snacks. The TV was new and had lots of cable channels. There was even a step-out patio overlooking the river, and a gorgeous skyline view of the Tokyo Sky Tree and the Asahi building! The top floor features a communal bath, a cute footpath with the same skyline view, washing machines and vending machines with soft drinks, beer and snacks. The breakfast was exceptional with Japanese (big and yummy portions) and Western options, with lots of extras on the salad/fruit/cereal/rice bar. There was also excellent speedy wifi, free bag check and very friendly and helpful staff. I will definitely be back again!

"Great location in "old" Tokyo!"
Chisun Inn Asakusa is located a short walk from the Sensoji Temple, and has access to the Ginza, Asakusa, and Oedo train lines, which will get you pretty much anywhere quickly. The hotel is a bit old, and the room's furniture and bathroom could use some refreshing, but for the price and location, I'll take it. The bed is a bit, "firm" as is the pillow, which is OK for a couple of nights, but being there for 2 weeks it was a bit rough on me. The hotel hallways do tend to get a bit loud, especially in the early morning- this hotel is really meant for business-type folks so they get up early and the travelers on a budget who tend to get back late, so keep that in mind. I'm not sure if this is a cultural difference, but the concept of "hot" water and "cold" water are very different from my American perspective- the lowest "cold" setting always resulted in a lukewarm shower, while the lowest "hot" setting was pretty much scalding. In fact, there is a sign on the bathroom door that warns that you need to shower/bathe with the door closed or risk setting off the fire alarm. The bathtub is designed for taking a soaking bath, but it has a detachable shower head for stand up showers too. The hotel staff is great, and though their English may not be the strongest, they really make an earnest attempt to help you out.

"A nice business hotel"
The place is a bit of a walk from Ueno JR station, but it is also a lot nicer than a lot of the places closer to the station. It is very close to the Inaricho metro stop on the Ginza line, so if you are going to Asakusa, it is a very nice location. The rooms, while small, are well-sized by Japanese standards. And the staff are excellent.

"Great place, bit of walking involved."
Rooms are great, staff very friendly and efficient. Varying degrees of English, but all well up to anything you'd need. Only issue is location–I strongly recommend getting a taxi there from the station first time around. The place doesn't tend to show up accurately on most mapping systems. It's a ten minute walk to the nearest station (on the JR Yamanote line, the main one for getting around Tokyo), and another 15 minutes to Ueno Park/Zoo, so ideal for visiting them too!

The room was clean and more than adequate for someone like myself who is out and about sightseeing every day. Thank-you to the reception staff for making my first stay in Japan such a lovely one. I will definitely be back!

"Nice and clean but a little small and far"
The hotel was nice, and the staff was very friendly. Several of the staff spoke excellent english. The hotel had inexpensive coin laundary, though the dryer (like most Japanese dryers) took forever for relatively small loads. The room was very well apportioned, but also very small. There was almost no floor space, which made my morning yoga more challenging than expected. But the bed was nice and large, and the bathroom was pleasant to use. Ueno station was close, but only the north-most gate, which is relatively far from the metro but reasonably close to JR. It was a good 10-15 minute walk to Ginza line, and a little farther to Hibiya. There was both a Sunkus and Family mart within a 5 minute walk. There were also several bars and restaurants nearby, though I didn't try any of them so I can't attest to their quality.
