Nice hotel at convenient location

Posted 15-Oct-2014
Friendly staff. Fantastic location. Good first impression of the decor overall of the hotel and room except the bathroom. The bathroom was adequate, but found the stained grout in the floor of the white tile shower not very appealing.

Great location, beautiful hotel no WIFI

Posted 11-Oct-2014
Pros: The location
Cons: Make the WIFI work
Location: Close to Circular Quay, The Rocks, great restaurants and local shopping.
The hotel is beautiful and the location is right next to The Rocks - so great for dining out and close to Waterfront - with fab views of the Opera House. The hotel had come highly recommended by several people and as I visit Australia every year for business reasons, I decided I should try it. If I was staying in Australia for a holiday I would definitely choose this hotel. But as I was here on business the lack of WIFI was a real problem. I stayed for 10 days and the WIFI in my room did not work once. It worked outside my bedroom door, but not inside! I did complain and was told that as the router was literally ‘outside’ my room they couldn't get me closer to the router so it wouldn't help to move me to a different room. The reception staff tried to reset the WIFI but nothing worked. I ended up racking up a mobile phone bill of over £1000 just to download my emails every day. Needless to say, next year I will stay at one of the faceless corporate hotels which allows me to keep in touch with the UK office without the huge costs!

Good position

Posted 26-Sep-2014
Pros: Ambiance
Cons: Room design and funtionality
Location: The Rocks, need more be said
Coffee and tea making facilities located in the wardrobe!! Silly shelf above the vanity basin in the bathroom made it difficult to use. Wardrobe and bathroom doors clashed. Design won over functionality too little shelf and draw space and poor use of floor space. Lovely hotel let down by poor room design and selection of furniture

Hi Derek, Thank you very much for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. I'm sorry that your overall stay didn’t fully live up to expectations. I appreciate you highlighting areas that we can improve. I'll be sure to raise your comment in regards to the Coffee and Tea making facilities, this is a fair point you raise. I agree that the functionality of the little shelf above the vanity basin was not fully thought through when refurbishing the hotel. We continue to look at ways that we can better manage our space in the bathroom. I'm sorry this impacted on the comfort of your stay. Thanks again for taking the time to review your stay and we do hope to welcome you back in the future. Sincerely, Dylan Cole General Manager

Perfect for exploring the Rocks, staff awesome

Posted 20-Aug-2014
We stayed just for a couple of nights but were very impressed with this hotel. The location was perfect for exploring the rocks. Modern and attractive decor, showers were amazing. The staff were incredible, very helpful and accommodating. Huge difference in customer service between staying here at this boutique hotel vs a large hotel - felt really looked after :-)

A very funky hotel

Posted 11-Aug-2014
Pros: The décor and staff
Cons: Not a thing!
Location: The hotel is situated right in the heart of the Rocks (opposite the Clock Tower building). The Rocks markets are but a few feet away.
My husband and I chose this hotel for its location not really knowing too much about it. The hotel is very cool - a combination of old world charm and very trendy décor. Our room (# 120) was light and spacious despite the dark décor - bathroom a little small but very clean. The hotel is small but as mentioned tastefully decorated - if you're after boutique style accommodation then this is the place to stay. The staff are so warm and inviting and we'd like to make special thanks to Paul the On-site Manager who went out of his way to ensure our stay was memorable. Breakfast was included in our package and we could order anything off the a la carte menu which was delicious. The menu prices were also very reasonable which surprised us given the venue. There is a lovely little private courtyard you can have a few drinks on with comfortable lounges and heaters. We will definitely return to the hotel again without a doubt.

Small room, but clean and well maintained. Great location. Free wifi. staff was very helpful and kind. Had a very small gym with three pieces of cardio equipment, but one was broken.

Excellent Location!

This lovely boutique hotel is so close to Circular Quay, you can walk there in minutes. If you're going on a cruise, you can roll your luggage down the street to the ship! The staff is super friendly and the hotel is nice size. The only criticism is that there is not elevator (lift). There is a luggage "dumb waiter" so you don't have to trudge your bags upstairs. If you have a problem with stairs, ask for a room on the first floor. It's worth it.

Two days in Sydney

Posted 28-May-2014
Pros: location
My husband and I were only in Sydney for two days. This was the perfect hotel! Quaint hotel, wonderful staff, perfect location - we walked everywhere - Opera House, botanical garden, harbor, weekend market, great restaurants and cafes, etc.

We had a great stay and had an excellent meal in the hotel restaurant, Scarlett. We found staff very friendly, relaxed and helpful. Next time for a longer stay we'll book a larger room.

Great location,but...

Posted 06-May-2014
Pros: Location.
Cons: Sound proofing in street level rooms, and website photos to give realistic representation of what you will get for your money.
Location: The Rocks area is full of historical sites, great restaurants, and close walking distance to Circular quay.
Great location in the heart of the Rocks. Booked Superior Heritage room but it was located on ground floor at street level and a lot of street noise at night prevented a good nights sleep. Hotel website photos of Superior Heritage room did not match the room we paid for! Management maintain it was a Superior Heritage room. If so, photos are very misleading.
