“Great stay alround.”
Would stay again without hesitation.
“Would not hesitate to stay here again!”
Very conveniently loacted for transport, city shopping, university......you name it. All mod cons and umbrellas for those forgetful folk like myslef! Staff were lovely - couldn't do enough! Room service was expensive considering the portion sizes but the food was lovely. This would be the only bad thing I could say about the Mercure
“Perfect for our 6 night stay”
We spent a lot of time choosing a hotel that was in a good location, well priced and favourably reviewed on various websites - Mercure Sydney ticked all the boxes. Very close to Central Station, a short walk to Paddy's Markets and the Monorail, bus stops outside, onsite parking available at a cost (cheaper as a customer) and a number of restaurants, pubs, corner stores etc. close by. Hotel staff were helpful and friendly, the room (a Superior Queen on level 8) was clean, quiet and equipped with basic amenities including a well-sized bath/shower combo, small refrigerator, study desk and chair, flat screen TV (with free-to-air, Foxtel and in-room movie services) and a safe. The pillow service, allowing you to choose a type of pillow that suits your sleeping style for free, was a nice touch. We didn't try the restuarant, bar, pool, sauna or gym, but knowing these were available we opted to spend our time exploring Sydney and eating at local restaurants instead. Public transport links are excellent and taxis to/from the Darling Harbour area were quite affordable (a ~10 minute journey). Overall, an excellent hotel offering all the basics in a great location at a reasonable price. Hard to go by, we'd definitely recommend staying at Mercure Sydney.
“Convenient and kid friendly”
Short walk from darling harbour, easy to get to, on site parking.
“Good hotel, would consider for future trips”
The Mecure is a good hotel, rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are very helpful. The location is not too bad, but I may consider booking other locations when I go again. However I would recommend the hotel, I had a great stay.
“Not impressed”
Pros: Good location Tidy and clean Awesome bed Cons: Expensive internet hotel rooms looks old inneficient shower Noisy, I can hear what's happening outside of my room
“Impressed”
We were made very comfortable by staff. The rooms were very pleasant and we would stay there again.
“Wonderful stay, annoying shower curtain”
I loved staying here, its next door to one of the main rail stations in the city and so it was easy to get anywhere. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and there is a concierge desk with helpful staff, maps, and suggestions. The airport shuttle bus is one dollar cheaper (as of this writing) than the airport train and picks you up right at the hotel, ask for a ticket on that instead, as the train requires you to lug your baggage to the far end of the adjacent rail station. The neighborhood around is a little run down. Internet access was something like $24 a day, a bit pricey. The shower curtain was very wispy and light and would blow out into the bathroom with the air pressure change when the shower was on. The result was that the bathroom floor got covered in an inch of water and was slow to drain. They would do well to get rubberized or heavier nylon shower curtains. All in all, I was very impressed, though.
“Hotel was fine for quick business stays”
The hotel was adequate and met all my needs for a 2 night business stay. My priority was affordability and location so it didn't need to provide a luxurious holiday. The location close to Central Station was great as I caught the airport train. Staff were very nice and helpful. The air-conditioning worked beautifully and didn't keep me awake with noise like in many hotels. It was easy to adjust. Breakfast in the dining room was a little crowded as the hotel was full, so on the second day I found a nice coffee shop near by. There are plenty. The room was clean but non-descript. In summary, paying the Expedia price meant I was very satisfied with the deal but wouldn't really have been if I payed $100 more. The room needed an bedside or overhead reading lamp.
“Good Location”
Next to the Centre Station, so easy to move. Clean and tidy but seems old building. Breafast buffet was $25, but we were not satisfied enough.
