“ok stay in san fran”

needed a place to stay that was central. the place was ok and really affordable. nothing special, but clean and free parking. probably would have paid more to stay somewhere nicer in retrospect, but worth the price.

“very good hotel”

Very satisfied with the price compared to hotels around the vicinity of this one and it's very affordable. The only downside is when we or others in surround rooms us the hot water you hear a very loud noise coming from the pipes. Other than that it's like a 30 min walk to fishermans wharf. We really enjoyed the hotel.

“first time to SF”

it's my first time to SF, and when i booked the room i was looking for somewhere close to the fisherman's wharf. actually it takes a quite long way to walk to pier39. besides the location, it's rather a nice motel for short stay. the room i had was facing the street, which makes it a bit noisy.

“Pleasantly Surprised!”

A gem of a hotel in San Francisco. Free parking...hard to find that in San Francisco. I loved the older feel of this hotel. Lots of original furniture so if your looking for brand new this is not it. Our room was clean and the bedding great. A few water pipe noises but nothing to disturb your sleep. The walk to the water front is a bit of a hike but if you are not in a hurry it is quite enjoyable. The location is on a busy corner so it is not super quiet. All in all it was good and would recommend it.

Area recommendations

Check out Lombard Street all the way and drive on the crooked section. Chinatown and the Italian section for great food. The waterfront for tons of activities. Drive over the Golden Gate Bridge and visit Muir Woods to see the big Redwoods.

“An unexpected delightful surprise”

Had a few reservations when we booked as we had not visited San Francisco before but wanted somewhere which didn't charge for parking. The Chelsea was easy to find and was an excellent base for exploring SF. Trolly Bus ride into town was a block away.Rooms were large and well kept. Lobby staff very friendly and helpful. Another bonus was Mel's Diner just next door which was excellent value.

Getting around

Trolly buses were very good both for frequency of service and cost.

Dining

Recommend the Cheesecake Factory terrace at the top of Macys. Mel's Diner served up an excellent breakfast. Bubba Gump on Pier 39 excellent for fish but go later at night when there are less people.

“Great Location in the Marina District”

This is a nice hotel located in the Marina District, walking distance to bars, restaurants, the Marina and Fort Mason. Will definately stay here in the future.
