Had been travelling for over 5 hours and prebooked this hotel. What a delight, so comfortable, peaceful, warm, welcoming log fires, so nice in every way. Heavenly view from my room toward Rutland Water, highland cattle, fields and trees and a wonderful sun rise with the sun pouring in through my window. Had all my meals alone in my room as I needed to 'chill'. First class room attendance with perfect well mannered, respectful staff...the latter being ' rare' these days in my opinion.
Would gladly return. Treat yourselves. !
Clearly since their take over from Travellodge they have work to do to update the rooms. However I'm confident that within a short period it will be done. The staff in the mean time are pleasant, helpful and efficient.

The staff at this hotel were friendly, welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, especially the night porter who managed to man the front desk and the bar with a huge smile on his face while a large group of guests from a wedding continued to celebrate at the hotel after the reception had finished. The room was comfortable, spacious and quiet and the breakfast the following morning was delicious. The only downside to the stay was the fact that we could not get the television in the bedroom to work.

We stayed for two nights at this lovely old Pub. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. We arrived late due to the traffic jams around the M25 but the landlord arranged to cook dinner for us even though we had arrived 10 minutes after the official end of service at 21.00. He had also tried to phone us to ask if we wanted sandwiches making up for when we arrived (missed the call on my mobile). The food was excellent and plenty of it. Good English cooking with locally produced food when possible. The landlord also produced a great Full English Breakfast in the mornings. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, although some of the fittings in the bathroom were a bit uneven but this was to be expected with such an old building. As we were there for the sailing at Rutland Water, we unfortunately did not have time to explore the village but we would certainly stay at this hotel again and next time we will go a bit earlier so we can go to see the restored working windmill, where you can buy the flour etc. It is a good base to visit Stamford or go walking/cycling. Rutland Water is 11 miles away with walks and a 17 or 26 mile cycle path (depending if you do the 6 mile round trip on the peninsular). You can visit Normanton church which was rebuilt on the edge of the water, when the village was drowned after the dam was built to create the largest man made reservoir in Europe.
We stayed overnight en-route to Norfolk but would have been delighted to have stayed longer. Superb location, Evening meal was excellent and Breakfast was even better. We will certainly use the Greetham Valley Hotel every time we're in this area.

Enjoyed 2 nights here with excellent food and service. Staff couldn't have been more helpful and made our stay very comfortable. We had booked 2 nights but for one only the twin room was available. However, they moved the beds together without being asked and had the room ready for us so we could move from one to the other before going out for the day.
In the restaurant, they provided food for 2 visiting toddlers whose parents were eating with us and served it quickly so that they could finish before we had our meal.
