I was warned about the taxis overcharging at the airport but with big queues for the buses and a public workers strike going on there was not much option. It cost about 60 euros from the airport to the hotel. Once there, the staff were fantastic. Very happy and very helpful. They suggested where to go and how to get there, writing it all on a map. We we given a room on two floors and with a balcony so were impressed with that. To make it even better the sun was out (despite being November and the BBC web site forecasting rain). Get yourself a Roma Pass in advance and pick it up at the airport. That gives you free travel on the buses and trams (which go to all the main places you want to see) and free entry to two/three attractions. Use it at the Colosseum to avoid an hour long queue! If I was picky the only downside were the numerous constructions sites and regeneration of attractions going on. The Trevi fountain for example is drained and scaffolding all around it. It is a great city to visit but then is let down by charging a visitor tax on leaving the hotel of 4 euros per person per night.
This hotel is conveniently located near the vatican and the metro - exactly as described. There are a couple of stairs to reach the main door of the hotel or a very small elevator as is to be expected of hotels in Italy. Staff was very friendly and greeted us with all the information we would need for our stay. A/C in the room was awesome, beds were comfortable and the convenience of having a key in order to come and go as we pleased was perfect. Breakfast in the morning was typically italian - croissants, toast and of course espresso and was prepared by the caretaker for 830 to allow for an early morning start. Also the luggage storage option allowed us to fit in the last minute sight seeing items that we hadn't quite checked off our list. Quiet location, not much road traffic and great restaurants in the area. The metro right outside the door allowed for a quick access to other areas of town and the lines area very basic and easily navigated regardless of language comprehension!

The hotel was great. very easy access to the termini and a short (25 min) walk to the spanish steps. My room (although not in the hotel block) was very spacious. It felt like I had my own apartment in Rome! there was a big kitchen which means travelers can try and save money if needs be and the bathroom was great - only being shared with one other room. The only downside is that if you're traveing alone there is no common room so meeting others has to be done in the city. This didn't seem a problem for me though! Also, the breakfast could definitely be better (only a croisant and one coffee sachet) however this stopped me being greedy and eating my own bodyweight in pastries (which I did at other places) so i can't really complain. On the whole an amazing stay and I would most definitely reccommend. The staff were also very helpful letting me use their personal computer when the comunal one woudlnt work.
