“Wonderful hotel on accessible quiet street in heart of old town”

We stayed at this wonderful hotel in December. The staff was friendly and responsive. The free capuccino machine in the lounge was awesome!

“would definitely return”

I booked a superior room and was very happy with it. It was a nice size with comfortable furnishings. There was a wide view over a church and courtyard but it was still very private. The breakfast room was pleasant with a view of the street and the breakfast wasgenerous with scrambled eggs, various breads, muffins, fruit salad, yogurt, coffee and juice on offer. There's a lovely sitting room with a gas fireplace and a computer/library for guests to use. The location was perfect as you could easily walk to all of the historic sights inside the walls. Rue St. Jean with some excellent shopping and restaurants/cafes/ethnic eateries is just a few blocks away. I have very few criticisms except that the lighting over the bed could have been brighter and late at night there was a thumping sound of a muffled bass which went on for several hours. The desk staff was generally helpful although some of them could have been more friendly. One of the reception staff, a female with short hair and glasses was outstanding. A good example for other employees.

Area recommendations
I have been to Quebec City on 5 separate visits so I'm pretty familiar with the attractions inside the walls. But if you have time to venture out try to visit Rue St. Jean for restaurants, shopping. St. Roch for shopping and historic church. Rue Petit Champlain with its historic storefronts and nearby Place Royale are worth exploring . For a breathtaking view of the city take the ferry ride to Levis where there are some nice shops, cafes and churches.
When to go
I've visited Quebec City in all seasons but my favourite time to go is just before Christmas especially when it's snowing. The decorations are spectacular and lavish with twinkling lights and pine boughs everywhere. There was a German Christmas Market right across from the Cathedral with music and stalls offering unique gifts and tasty food. The Vieux Port market is a great place to pick up handcrafted, one of a kind items and artisanal cheeses, chocolates, ciders, soaps etc. If you hate those crowded mall scenes this time of year as I do then there's no better place to shop and actually enjoy the experience.

“French European charm. A room with character..”

The hotel is conveniently located in the Old City. We had a unit tastefully decorated with antique furniture, beautiful drapes, along with kitchen and modern bathroom. It was beautiful. The coffee was strong and excellent. Breakfast was included. The hotel is reasonably priced. The only problem was the Christmas party across the street which the cops broke up at 1:30 am. The noise was unbearable, and we had a flight at 6 am. We do recommend this place if you want to feel that you are in France with the comfort and space of America.

Area recommendations
Depends on what you are looking for. The Old City is charming and unique.
When to go
Not during tourist season or during Carnival if you want a quiet place.

“Loved this cozy hotel”

Very nice and quiet. Great location. Loved the breakfasts & the Expresso machine. Room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Everything was perfect.

Area recommendations
Close to all the beautiful shops decorated so lovely for Christmas. Loved the ecclectic stores, not big box duplicates. Strolling through quaint old Quebec was wonderful. The funicular at the Frontinac to lower shop level is cool. Also go to the Montmorency falls (right off the bus route). Visit the Christmas market just off the Via Train/Bus depot in Old Port. Many great bistros, pubs, restaurants.

The hotel is in an excellent location, in the Old Town, with shops, restaurants nas sights all close by. The staff are very helpful, and the rooms are smallish but mre than adequate. Very modern decore, and the shower was excellent.

“Centrally located”

We loved the individuality of this tastefully decorated hotel. It was central to the attractions of the old city in a quiet location. Coffee machine in the lobby was great! The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The best reason to stay there was the affordable price for the lovely accommodations.

Area recommendations
The old city was so pretty and quaint. The restaurants were good and the shops were a mix of souvenirs and some lovely boutiques.
