"We loved the property, having the private pool and AC were definite pluses. The kitchen was functional and the bathrooms were nice - the weather makes cool showers ok and you don't miss the hot water too much. Hot water was missed for doing dishes though - we boiled water on the stove to wash. The beds could be better - the wood frames are creaky and the mattresses are too thin. "We were genuinely sad we only had one night to stay at Banana Azul! Check in was quick and efficient and friendly. The fresh coconut was a lovely treat. The Howler Suite was charming and the view magical. The food in the restaurant was delicious. I highly recommend Banana Azul if you want an authentic Costa Rica experience that’s right on the Playa Negra beach. I’ll definitely be returning. "
